divine fits in minneapolis

And tonight we topped off the week by seeing the Divine Fits over at the Varsity. I hadn't been to a show there in forever (or according to FourSquare, since December 2011) and I was so pleased to find out they had a photo pit and real photo pass stickers! It made the night way easier to work.  Oh! And a new sound system! These improvements are monumental. But besides the venue, the show was (as expected) fabulous. Strangly, it began with... wait for it... foam soapy bubbles being blown from the ceiling which at first looked like confetti and then was covering me in wet, sticky substance. I'm not sure if I loved it or hated it... but it was unexpected for sure (and hello sticky lenses!).We were only allowed to shoot during the first three songs, and then of course the lights came up and the jackets off and there were seven bazillion amazing photographable moments that I just tried not to pay attention to as I watched the show. (And failed miserably at). I even tried to get a few with my iPhone, but fat chance with that. You can see my attempts over here. And you can see my real photo set over here. Also, I realize I owe you a Joy Formidable set. I'm working as fast as I can! I promise! For my internet share of the day, I'm going to suggest you read a story one of my colleagues wrote for Slate. He's in his 60s and he hitchiked from Minnesota to the west coast to see what it was like in this day and age. And it's beautifully written. You can enjoy that over here.
