So yesterday after Metric (swoon) I headed over to a friend's house who has a chicken coop in her backyard... in the city of Minneapolis (cool, right?). Now, one of my very favorite parts of the State Fair is seeing all the chicken breeds each year and trying to take their photos -- but they're all caged up and it's hard to shoot through the wires. So you can imagine my excitement at the thought of shooting them *in the wild* (or in the city, whatever).Anyway, Eunice (the beloved chicken owner) was kind enough to let me invade her backyard and document her birds. She also has amazing gardens at her house where she grows all kinds of food stuffs (fruit, veggies, greens etc) and will now have fresh eggs as well. But my very favorite part of this story is that when choosing her birds, she picked breeds that lay different colored eggs. So if you buy a carton all the eggs are different shades of brown/blue/lavendar/cream. I KNOW! I cannot wait to get my hands on some (they're not old enough to lay eggs just yet)Also, Eunice does these really cool cooking videos that you can watch over hereAnd if you want to see more photos that I took of the chickens, they are over here!Tomorrow we'll be back to our regular scheduled programming as I try to figure out something interesting to shoot on deadline day. Wish me luck!
