First, let's talk about the photo. Then we'll get on to what really happened today. This is the lead singer of The Drums. I caught them tonight at the Entry -- they put on a fun show, and I am very fond of both of their albums, so this was a nice distraction.But not a complete distraction.I have to admit, I am surprised at how hard I was hit by the death of Steve Jobs today. Most of you probably know that I am a fairly rabid Apple fan. My addiction to Jobs' products started at a very young age, and they have impacted my life substantially both personally and professionally. It was my love of working on an Apple that made me stay late after Journalism class in high school to work on page layouts and graphics and made me study up on software advancements so I could push the visual boundaries further.I have been sitting here for the last 30 minutes trying to verbalize why Apple is so important to me and why his products made such an impact on my life, and I can't get it right. It's just too late and I'm not coherent enough.I'm just going to break it down into two simple facts. I love music. I love design.Steve Jobs gave me the best tool I have ever used to create great designs, and the tool he gave me in itself has always been beautifully designed, which I appreciate immensely.Steve Jobs also gave me the means to carry the music I love so much with me anywhere in the world. And the means to buy any new music I wanted to hear instantly.You know how I love design. You know how I love music. Yeah, this day was tough.Oh yeah.
