Oh my, look who is finally seeing some music again! It has been way too long, and I'm really getting frustrated at myself for not making it out more (but hey, sleep is a good option as well...). Anyway, this particular show was easy to catch as it was at noon! Ha! How's that for catering to my elderly tastes? :) No, but for real, it was another super wonderful and intimate show over at MPR, and I love the sound in that space as well as the light. We were treated to four new Poliça songs, and it was fun to both see the band as well as old friends at the show.This evening I'll be shooting a crazy dubstep dance night for a publication, and man will that be different! (That's Minnesotan talk for, "I think it might suck.") But I think there's huge potential for the photos, so I'm really excited to see how they turn out. My favorite thing about my new job is how different every single day is and how many people I get to see and work with. From fancy restaurants, to weddings in the mountains, to really smart businessperson headshots to crazy club nights, I'm always on my toes and trying to figure out the best way to shoot something. It's so challenging and fun! (My least favorite part would be the driving, for sure.)For my internet share of the day, I'm sending you to Domino magazine. I used to loooooooooooooove this magazine so hard. And then it folded and I was sad and I still have all of my issues tucked away for memories. Anyway, it's a home/entertaining magazine aimed at younger people who have a keen design eye (or so that's what I figure). Well it closed in 2009, and now it's BACK! How often does THAT happen? Anyway, it's back with a whole new business model which is kinda crazy and new and I'd love to discuss it more over cocktails. The idea is that they write the same kind of stories they always did in the past, but then on the website they sell the stuff in the photos! Like, the table linens used in the party shots or the furniture in the apartment decor stories. See what I mean? Kinda unusual, but I'm super curious to see how this all pans out. What do you think? Good business plan or ethically muddy?
