summer at the market

0809summersmThis morning, after recovering from a CRAZY migraine (thank you heating pad and cold coffee), we headed out to the farmer's market and picked up some of these amazing tomatoes along with some home-made canned salsa (yum!). I know it's "officially" summer on June 21, but I always feel like we're at the height of it when the tomatoes start coming in so sweet and delicious. I haven't decided what to do with mine yet... maybe a caprese salad is in order.Besides that, we supported the economy in full force today with exciting purchases like a diaper pail, a horrendous-looking (but apparently necessary) plastic fisher price baby-holding thingy (I'm gonna be an ace parent, can't you tell?) along with other super fun purchases like a baby wipes case. And we did a ton of laundry. I don't even have this kid yet and I miss the days of not having kids. Ah well... at least I feel prepared. To counterbalance all that parenthood prepwork, we then went out for a fancy dinner at Tilia (my favorite) where I ordered the Reuben for the first time and OHMYGOD why have I not been ordering this every time? It was phenomenal. And now we're heading out to a movie and to see where the night takes us (sadly, probably back to bed by 11 pm since I'm so exhausted). And for your internet share of the day, this is one of my very favorite "Humans of New York" stories, as it just totally warms my heart. And also, if you enjoy that site, you should check it daily now as he's doing this project around the world and is in the middle east. You guys? We have it really good here.
