And another one! Last night, after the morning shoot with the Arcade Fire fan and after a full day at a photo conference that's in town, I photographed another family and captured this moment of the daughter doing cartwheels on the dock. I love how you can see both of her feet as well as that look of hard concentration on her face. What a cutie!So yeah, this photo isn't from today. Oh, I had another shoot today (and another full day at a photo conference), but I just  haven't had time to do a quick edit, so you get the older image. Now let's talk about this photo conference!It was called Geekfest and it was put on by APAD (a photo a day). I had no idea what to expect -- and I was mostly counting on presentations from hardcore news and documentary photojournalists. This would have been good and educational, but being as I've worked in a newsroom for years (and years and years) and peppered my photographer friends for years on projects and seen and helped edit how they come together, I just wasn't sure how much I would learn about process. But I knew I would be deeply inspired by the work, and that's what my goal was.Yeah, I was certainly right about that whole inspiration bit. I think I was there for 15 minutes before the "ohmygodmyworkiscrapIneedtototallyrethinkeverything" thoughts kicked in. But luckily, because I have been through this same learning curve when I was learning to design, I know that in one or two years I'll have improved greatly and the only way to get better is to keep being inspired and to keep working and in 10 years I will mock the work I'm doing now and be much better. Or at least I hope that's how it works.Ok, ok, enough about my educational weekend. Let's get to the internet share of the day already. Oh wait!!! Did y'all see Breaking Bad? It is moments like this that I'm sad I don't have a water cooler to talk to my coworkers with about these shows. Dang that was stressful!Ok now for real, the internet share of the day. This is a project where someone began pairing ridiculous tweets with stock art to make really funny commentary on how stupid our* "problems" seem and how people use social media to vent. I find it to be hilarious.*And by "our," I certainly don't mean mine. Dear lord, someone come after me the day I whine that my maid hasn't been to the house in more than a week. Hey waitaminute! Come to think of it, my maid hasn't shown up in YEARS! hahaha
