And just like that, it's Sunday.So at the end of Saturday, we wandered over to Lustre Pearl, one of my very favorite bars in Austin. They were having a bunch of folky bands and then ending the night with Dawes and Deervana (Deer Tick playing a full on set of Nirvana). Yeah, I was ready for Deervana. I had heard a few people make snarky comments about seeing a "cover" show at SXSW, but these guys do *amazing* covers, and I never got to see Nirvana as a kid, so I was there.It was one of the very best shows of the week (and it was after midnight and I still haven't gone to bed, so this totally works as a Sunday photo...). Trashed guitars, trashed drums, crazy mosh pit, all kinds of stage diving, beer and liquids being spit on everyone... total mayhem -- but in the very best way.I tried to shoot it as best as I could, but between protecting my camera gear and holding my spot up front, the images were just OK. So instead you're getting a shot of the Dawes finale right before Deervana when Matt and John joined the band on stage for "When My Time Comes." If I ever see Dawes again (OK, that's stupid. When, not if) I will be really sad to go back to hearing the original version of this song sans Matt and John.Also? If anyone out there can score me one of the t-shirts from Deervana, I will be your best friend forever.UPDATE: Ok, kids, ALL my SXSW photos are up.
