date night!

What a day. This morning I had a funeral to attend for my dear friend Courtnay whose mother passed away unexpectedly this weekend. Watching your friends in pain is so dang tough. I heard one funeral attendee comment that a mother has a very special place both in your heart and under your skin. Isn't that the truth? After the funeral, Nyberg and I were driving back to Minneapolis and we witnessed a woman run over a duck and her ducklings. It was horrific. She didn't even slow down or try to avoid the family crossing the road (which would not have been difficult), and coming off of the funeral, it was pretty traumatic. So after that unusually dark start to the day, I came home and took the dogs for a long walk before diving into work, and when Jamie got home I was more than happy to call it quits. I haven't seen much of this guy lately -- my new boss is some sort of slave driver who makes me work all weekend! ;) Because of this, we decided to have a date night and enjoyed a delicious dinner at Punch Pizza, which you can see above. I am so glad it's a long weekend and I'll get to see him a little more. After today, some good family time sounds perfect.
