death cab for cutie
It only seemed fitting that we join all of our friends over at First Avenue for the night of the rapture, eh? Especially since we were all seeing/covering Death Cab for Cutie. And the club won an even warmer spot in my heart (wait, is that possible?) when at the strike of 6 p.m. they turned up the stereo and played "It's the End of the World As We Know It" by R.E.M. (Leonard Bernstein!)The show was ... fine. The openers, The Lonely Forest, was really fun to shoot. Lots of expressions and jumping and happy guys on stage. Death Cab was fine to shoot... but they're just not as excited and/or energetic, so while they sounded great, the photos were kinda dull. You can see for yourself over here. But I think what made me happiest tonight was seeing our buddies Eric and Betz out at their first show since having their baby ten days ago. I think that first outing must be really scary and hard, and they were great and we all loved seeing them and cracking jokes about Ben Gibbard's sweaty pants (seriously, the dude sweats a LOT).
