Last night I caught Julian Casablancas in First Ave's main room and then Surfer Blood over in the Entry. Both were solid, if not short, shows. But I gotta say, after this week of concerts, I was not gonna complain about how short the sets were. Casablancas seemed completely stunned by his warm welcome at the show, even saying that Minneapolis was now one of his favorite cities to play in. I will agree that the kids down in front were sending out massive love. I especially liked the dude who held up the vinyl album over his head the entire show (I feel sorry for the saps behind him, however).You can see more Casablancas images over here, and Surfer Blood shots over here. Surfer Blood sounded good, but they were sick with a lot of broken equipment and a little beat down. Still a fun set, though. And they were rewarded after the show with a Prince sighting. That must have made their night :)
