social distortion

Tonight was Lucero with Social Distortion and Frank Turner at First Avenue. I was so excited for this show that I moved my travels a day back so I wouldn't miss it. Crazy.I had never seen Social D before, but I am a big fan. And I had heard great things about Frank Turner (man alive, are they true) and of course, Lucero is a fave. So this was really a no-brainer. The best part of the night was probably getting to shoot Social D with no monitors on stage. Yay for expensive in-ear monitors! The most disappointing part might have been the shortness of the Lucero set... and their sobriety. I just love a liquored up band who banters with the crowd. What can I say? This photo is of Mike Ness of Social D. It's technically not at all what I was going for, but damn do I love good lens flare. I'm like JJ Abrams when it comes to that. And you know what else I loved about this? All that spittle! I guess it's the mistakes in this photo that draw me to it. You can see more of the concert shots over here. Also, I should warn y'all. Tomorrow I will be traveling for just under 24 hours. I'm not sure if I'll have time to post... or if I do what sort of lovely airport shot I will get. But be patient the next few days. I'm not sure WiFi is so prevalent where I'm going...
