sunday dinner
I know, I know. It's kinda boring to post my cooking on here, but this is the steak dinner we were *supposed* to have on Thursday when we got to rush to the ER Vet instead... and I might even say it was worth the wait.I'm gonna be honest here and tell you guys that I'm not very good at cooking steak. I never know when it's done, and it's pretty rare that I get it just right (medium-well for me, please). But you know where I make up for it? In my red-wine gravy with shallots and sauteed mushrooms. Damn, that is some fine stuff. And this made for a perfect Sunday meal before we settled in to watch one of our new favorite shows on TV, Longmire (it's no Mad Men or anything, but pickings are slim these days, and we enjoy it). You know what else made this meal awesome? That would be the 2008 Francis Coppola Malbec that was gifted to me for my birthday. Yum.MEMPHIS UPDATE: She ate 3 out of 4 meals today, so that was success. And who wouldn't have eaten her dinner which included kibble, beef broth, white rice, peas, mashed sweet potatoes and the edges of our steak cut into very small pieces. Yeah, she's a tad spoiled these days -- but whatever it takes to get her eating again.
