the black keys

The Black Keys played a sold out show at First Ave tonight (and they have another sold out show on Wednesday for any of you kids that want to try to catch 'em). After shooting songs 2, 3 and 4 (the band's rules), I put the camera away and decided not to fight the crowd to get back up front like I normally do, but just to wander around the back and check out the scene. The first thing I discovered was the dude working the lights from the back. That guy was WORKIN'. And that was super cool! I loved watchin' him -- I guess with only two guys on stage, the lights are a pretty big deal. Maybe in my next life I'll work the lights on some tour -- that would be fun :) Next I strolled over and watched the people walking in and out of the Owner's Box. Aaaaand now I'm adding that to my bucket list (#17 Watch a great show from the First Ave Owner's Box). And lastly I wandered back downstairs and watched the show from the back near the soundboard. Surrounded by a bunch of dudes talking through EVERY SINGLE SONG. Hello? These tickets were tough to get. WHY ARE YOU TALKING?? Yeah. Next time I'll push my way back to the front where people LISTEN. (Not that I was annoyed at all). Oh! And yes, there are more photos. Check 'em out here.
