pixie and poppy

post by leslie

Ok. Here we are. This is Pixie and Poppy, and they are the last adoptable dogs this month. Don't worry! I have way more photos of rescue dogs coming to fill out the week, but all those dogs got adopted within days of their new photos being taken, so they never ran as adoptable. But of course I still want you to see their sweet faces! But back to these two. They are kinda like the Golden Girls. They are around 11 years old and they are bonded, which means they need to go to a new home together. They are almost blind and deaf. The have trouble with their back legs, so walking is tough and they kinda stumble around. All of that said, their foster mom says they are both wildly affectionate. These ladies need to land where someone works from home (or is retired and home a lot). They need a calm and quiet place with no small kids and no big dogs. If you think you might be the perfect fit for these ladies, you can reach out to Pet Haven rescue. They don't have an official adoption page just yet, but feel free to email the organization if you are interested.About this projectFor the next month, I’ll feature photos on my blog, my instagram and my facebook feeds that focus on dogs who need homes. These are dogs currently in foster homes, waiting for their forever family. They are amazing pups who will melt your hearts — some are hard to adopt because they are pit bull mixes (the sweetest dogs ever who cannot help their strength) or they have lived on the streets for a long time and are covered in scars or they might be blind or deaf (or both). Some are simply hard to get adopted because they are black, which is the dumbest reason ever. But each dog that has come into my studio in the last few weeks for photos has had a warm heart and wanted nothing more than love. Wouldn’t it be great if one of you could provide that? I hope so. Bring Caden home stat -- ADOPTED!

post by leslie

This is Caden. He is a tripod and it is a modern miracle that I did not just scoop him up and bring him home with me after taking his photo. But I guess that wasn't necessary because in the two days after his shoot, he was adopted! So he's no longer available. Instead, let's just be happy that he found a great home so fast! His information is below, for those that are curious.Caden is just about one year old and was rescued from Kentucky with a broken leg that was severely infected and had to be removed. But you guys, he is THE HAPPIEST and friendliest and most wonderful guy about it! He's just so dang grateful to be feeling better! He loves other dogs, he loves people and he wants to snuggle all day long. He is not crate trained, but he does just fine with full run of the house. Because he was rescued after growing up a little wild, he is in need of training. But he truly is just a delight. I think training him would only help build the bond.He was being fostered by Safe Hands Rescue and you can find their other dogs here. hilarious little emma

post by leslie

This is Emma, and she is a hoot!Emma is a four-year-old chihuahua who has been in foster for 2 months. She has a rare neurological issue where she... sort of dances? All the time? Her foster mom described it best by saying it just looks like she's had too much tequila at all hours of the day. That's how she walks. But she's not in pain and she's happy as a clam. She sticks by her people (and loves to sleep next to you in bed). She is good with other dogs, cats and kids. And if you want to see what she looks like when you get home from work (or even if you don't), you need to watch this video. Have you ever seen a happier dog? I think not.If you are interested in adopting Emma, her information and application can be found here. Lucy aka Lulu

post by leslie

This is Lulu, and you guys, she is FANTASTIC. She is some sort of little hound mix and she's super submissive and just rolls over for tummy rubs all the time. Photo evidence provided. She is 6.5 yrs old and she has a bad case of heartworms that she's healing up from at the moment. Because of this, she can go for short walks, but she'll never be your running companion. She's been in foster care since January, and is just about ready to find her forever home (waiting on one final x-ray for a clean bill of health). This girl likes things calm. She probably shouldn't live in an apartment or townhouse as she likes to alert you (by barking) when she hears noises. She likes other (calm) dogs and kids, but due to her huntress nature outdoors, the foster is thinking cats might be a bad idea. She walks well on a leash and loves car rides. And really? She's kind of hilarious with all the rolling over for belly rubs.If you'd like more information on how to adopt this sweetie, reach out to Wags and Whiskers and let them know! They can give you much  more information -- she's just not posted online as they are waiting for medical clearance. Adorable Abby

post by leslie

This is Abby, and she is gonna be a GREAT dog for someone! She's a puggle (pug/beagle mix) and she was surrendered because her mom moved into assisted living and couldn't take a dog with her.She is super friendly and outgoing and acts way, way younger than her age (which is 12). She would be your shadow in the house, following you from room to room, and she loves to snuggle on the couch. She's great on walks and loves to ride in the car and and in general is very trusting and loving. She is crate trained and house trained. Go get her now! You can find her adoption information here!

Klaus!

post by leslie

This is Klaus! He's a dalmatian pit bull mix who was found as a stray in Dallas and has been in Minnesota for just a few weeks. He's 3 years old, and he is a sweetie. He loves to lean into you, to snuggle and to surprise you with kisses. He loves walks outside, but does not require a fenced in yard! He's good with other dogs, cats and probably kids (it hasn't been tested yet, but he's super agreeable). He also loves car rides! He is, however, afraid of cameras. So be warned. Ha!You guys, his ears are SO CUTE. Those spots are just adorable, and he is such a sweet boy.If you'd like to read more about Klaus or find out how to adopt him, that information is here! will

post by leslie

This is Will, and he's been in foster for more than a year. Considering this sweet boy is only two years old, that's a long time! Half his life! Let's get this boy a home!He was found in a ditch in Alabama, and he was brought up here where he's been a great foster. Willie is a touch fearful, but once you earn his trust he is amazingly loyal. He was a perfect gentleman in the studio with me (loads of treats and a calm demeanor are key for this guy), and he's super food motivated. He's crate trained and would love a big yard to run and sniff in. He's fantastic with older kids, but the young ones might add to his anxiety. This guy is a true sweetheart, and if you think you might have the perfect home for him, you can see more about adoption here. Sweet Kiara

post by leslie

This is Kiara! She's just under two years old and is a gorgeous mix breed. She's not too big (42 lbs), and is super calm and easy going. She is good with dogs and kids (but would need slow and easy introductions), but she does like to hunt, so cats are probably not a good fit. She's well trained and smart and, uh, stubborn. She knows the word for down. She knows you want her to lay down. But she's just going to stare right back at you because she just doesn't feel like it right now. Which is charming and hilarious, but you might need to work on a little if you bring her home. She is crate trained and potty trained and would be a great addition to many homes. If you're interested in Kiara, you can see her adoption information here.  About this projectFor the next month, I’ll feature photos on my blog, my instagram and my facebook feeds that focus on dogs who need homes.
