This girl needs a home

post by leslie

This is Blue! She's available for adoption through Pet Haven, although she's not listed online yet because they are still evaluating her for medical and social behaviors. She is a SWEET HEART. Please, please bring her home so I don't have to!She's a vizsla and weimaraner mix, which means she has a lot of energy and needs her exercise. That said, she is calmer than my Magda, so if you've met my own little bundle of spazz, this girl isn't that nutso. But she will need walks. She is hilarious and loves tennis balls and does fine with other dogs. She's clumsy and knocks stuff over, so tiny kids aren't suggested. If you're interested, reach out to Pet Haven and they might be able to make an introduction!

backyard evenings

post by leslie

Most of my shoots this time of year are at a park or a fancy location, but sometimes it's just glorious to hang out in the backyard! This family had me over after dinner last week, and we got some fun images. And in an effort to keep up the internet shares of the day:+ This cracked me up. Are you the parent of a toddler or at Burning Man?+ And I just realized I've been a mom for almost 5 years and never made a casserole! But this one sure looks tasty... That up there is the best photo bomb ever.

first day of the last year of preschool!

post by leslie

And just like that, summer vacation is done.Ezra started his first day of preschool today, and yes he's still in preschool. The birthday cutoff for kindergarten is Sept 1, which he misses by a few weeks. But he's thrilled to be back at his old stomping grounds, seeing the class rabbit and his favorite teachers, so we're running with it!This is also the first year that he picked out his own outfit. Let childhood independence begin!

Dog days of summer, am I right?

post by Leslie

Are you tired of looking at dogs? Then you are in the WRONG PLACE, my friends! A few more pups that showed up for free portraits this weekend. Also, that one up top is available for adoption here. Also, the one right below these words is named Peanut. Isn't that the best?!? I don't know why I love dogs named after food so much, but I do!

more dogs!

post by leslie

And more dogs from the portraits this weekend! I don't really have anything else to say about how much fun this whole event was, but I just want you to see the photos. I'd love to know which dogs you think are the cutest. They are all adorable, but that one up top has a special place in my heart with her inky eyes!

national dog day

post by leslie

Well, last weekend was my free dog portrait day at Callahan Framing, and man did we have so much fun! These were the dogs whose names started with A-C. I'm so wiped out that that's my criteria for today! Ha! But this only means there will be more great pups later in the week, I promise. And it's perfect for National Dog Day!On a side note, I just want to tell you all how great it was to work with Callahan Framing. Yes, they paid me to take these photos, but this partnership was made out of a true respect for each other's work. I take all my framing to these ladies and their advice on how to best display my own photos has been fantastic. They are so talented and have huge hearts, and if you need any of your images or artwork framed, I cannot suggest them enough. Now, enjoy these dogs! So expressive!

morning storm

post by leslie

I got home early from my appointment today right before a big, dark storm rolled through. Since I had some extra time, I decided to wander the garden with my macro lens and just have fun with my camera. I'm not sure I'll ever get tired of photographing rain drops... or hearing the rumble of thunder in the distance. It always fills me with such comfort and relaxation when I have a day of work ahead and those dark clouds roll in.

best weather on the planet

post by leslie

If you don't live in Minneapolis right now, you are doing it all wrong. The weather this weekend was SUPURB. Light breezes, temperatures in the 70s, low humidity... it was glorious. We ate almost all of our meals outside, spent time at various playgrounds and lakes, walked the dog, rode our bikes, ate vegetables grown in our yard and in general, enjoyed the remaining days of summer.I had one photo shoot, but the rest of the weekend off (excellent decision on my part) and these images are from that family. This morning when I woke up, it was 56 degrees. Oh, how I love autumn, and this time of year when it's right around the corner is absolute magic.
