before :: after
0430beforeafter.jpg

Holy Moly! So the left side was the "before" shot that I took before leaving for work today. The "after" is what I came home to. See the hidden room behind the bathtub! They found an antique, metal Tootsie Roll sign back there. Cool, eh? Also, notice that UNDER the bathtub was the old, hexagon tile. And BEHIND the bathtub (under the window) was white, subway tile. So it's good to know we're simply returning this room to its former roots (except no blue in the tile this time around). I'm sure you'll get more photo updates along the road, but pretty cool to see back in that hidden space. And don't worry: We're adding insulation.

meanwhile, on friday...
06lucero.jpg

I told you Lucero would make an appearance around here! This is one of my favorite shots of Ben playing guitar on Friday night. Something about a black and white photo of a tattoo-filled arm makes me happy. You can see the rest of the images from that night over here. And the reason I'm posting this old photo today (only three days old though!) is that I was cruisin' through work today, and didn't get out to shoot many images. What was I busy with? Class, then an agency shoot, then a bunch of emails, then a bunch of soccer photos to process, and now? Now I'm about to empty out my entire bathroom. Why would I do that?Because tomorrow the contractor is coming over to demolish it. We're taking out tubs! We're knockin' down walls! We're moving drains and pipes! It's going to be a disaster for about a month (dear, sweet jesus, let's keep it at a month because I'll be without my only shower), but afterward it will be bigger and we'll have a wonderful new, long bathtub and... are you ready for it... HEATED FLOORS. I am so excited. And how will it be bigger, you ask? It turns out that we discovered a walled-in closet behind our bathtub. We always thought it looked like some space in that room wasn't quite right, and we were correct. It's not often that you gain 10-15 square feet in a bathroom without losing the space somewhere else. We are a touch excited about that. And yes, there will be photos.

dog party

The dog video shoot was this afternoon, and man was it fun. Also? We wore that collie out. Poor Merlin finally had to just lay down about halfway through and rest. Poor guy -- his ten years got the best of him.It was so fun to see all the various dogs and breeds. I fell hard for a Vizsla named Lilac -- she was such a sweetheart. As soon as we arrived she came over and seemed a touch overwhelmed by all of the activity, so she sat down between my feet. And I kinda fell in love.To see images of Lilac, plus the other dogs and the shoot, you can look over here.Oh! And my internet share of the day is really cool today. It's a photo essay by the NY Times on a falcon hospital in the middle east. Check out the size of those birds!

oban!

Remember when I shot this adorable puppy? Today we went over to play with him and his cousin Beret. How adorable is this guy? After that, there were errands and lots and lots of time outside in the 70 degree sunshine. And then we walked Merlin down to Dairy Queen for ice cream for dinner for his birthday. Of course I took photos of him eating his cone, but I think you guys get to see him all the time. So I'll save that shot for later this week.

livin the dream part 2
0426unites.jpg

I got up at 4:30 am this morning so I could be ready to load in all my gear for a 6:30 am shoot with the soccer players. There are few things I'll get up that early for, but paid time to spend with international athletes? Check.

And when I wrapped up that shoot around 10, I almost fell to my knees in a prayer of thanks for the glorious 70 degrees and sunshine that greeted me as I walked to my car. I immediately ran home to change into sandals before the rest of my days meetings.

Tonight we are having dinner with friends, there's a possibility of a fashion show, and then we get to see Lucero play in concert. I'll shoot the show, but maybe save the photos for later in the week, since I already have this nice soccer image done.

And here's my internet share of the day.

looking up
0425skysm.jpg

Oh man the weather is getting so much better! Today I took a long walk at lunch with my buddy London and we grabbed snacks at the food trucks, which were finally out! I shot this image while downtown, and as I was looking up, I heard my name and we happened to run into a good friend (Karen) running errands downtown as well.

Also, I had planned on attending three concerts this week. Now? Maybe none? CRAZY. But all three bands are groups I've seen a million times (Free Energy, Polica and Lucero) and you guys... I'm kinda beat. And I have a shoot at 6:30 am tomorrow... soooo... I guess that's another reason.

Oh! Speaking of bands! Check out this Internet share of the day (thanks to @sopheava). It's a band-name generator. Have fun!
