This weekend I got a bunch of new plants for the front porch, including some totally strange and lovely succulents like this one. I love the fuzz! I'll probably feature several of these in the next few weeks as they are all so cool and unusual. Now if I can just keep the desert succulents alive in this wet Minnesota weather...

What a great end to the weekend. So I woke up around 11 (Right? How great is that?) and I could hear the rain hitting the roof and thunder in the distance. And I was sandwiched between my man and my softly snoring collie. I crept out of bed for my camera to get some sleepy morning shots before the day began. But seriously? Right there I knew it was going to be a good one.Later in the afternoon, the rain cleared and the sun came out and we went to a wonderful cookout at my friends' Stacy and Carl's place. Amazing food, great friends, yard games, pups and lots of laughs ensued. You can see my photos from the party over here (I know, I know. Put down the camera! I can't help it. Habit.).

whoopie pies

Another wonderful day in this fantastic city. We slept in and then biked over to the Kingfield Farmer's Market for more Foxy Falafel. Also, we discovered a new baker at the market, Groveland Bakery, I think is what it was called. And look at these whoopie pies she made! These here were dark chocolate cookies with Hazelnut chocolate filling. Yum.After the market we took an amazingly long bike ride and then later today I took another fantastic nap, watched some great movies (Wonder Boys! The Bourne Supremacy! The Deathly Hallows!) and ate a delicious dinner. Oh yeah, and I planted more awesome stuff for the front porch. So see? Just a wonderful holiday weekend so far.

I don't know if I've mentioned this lately (probably not since we just finished the longest snow season ever), but hot damn do I love living in Minneapolis. Today we biked down to the fantastic new farmer's market in our neighborhood, had some delicious thai chicken wings and falafel, biked around the lakes, bought a bunch of awesome plants and got the front porch ready for summer. Then there was a thunderstorm! And so there was a nap! And then I got to catch The Vaccines at First Avenue. And they were so good! And fun! And then we met friends for wine and guacamole and gossip. So yeah! What a fun day! Can you see why I love it here?So the above photo is (obviously) of The Vaccines. If you want to see more photos of their amazing performance, they are over here.

Say hello to a big bundle of energy. This is Mocha, and man did it take a *lot* of dog treats and patience to get this youngster to sit still for a few seconds for a photo. She's two, and she makes our dogs seem ... calm. I know, right? What universe am I in?! Anyway, she's staying with us for the weekend and she's having a blast. And she is so well behaved -- a perfect house guest.

Today was one of the magical days where my work involved a fashion shoot on a yacht on a lake. Yeah, so that was pretty awesome. While I would love to show you some of the amazing photos and clothes, I don't want to ruin the surprise of the spread that's coming out next month. So I'll just give you this teaser shot of the model getting prepped for her shot instead. It's supposed to rain all weekend, so this day of sunshine was a nice treat. Now I'm home on the sofa watching Pulp Fiction and three sleeping pups at my feet. Life is good.

After a loooong day at work, Jamie and I met at Punch for dinner (that place never gets old, I tell ya) before coming home to give the dogs a little extra playtime and attention. We wanted to assure them that we love them dearly before tomorrow. What happens tomorrow, you ask? Well, bright and early our buddy Mocha is coming to stay for the weekend! I am actually very excited about this as a) I adore this dog to pieces and b) I'll have a new photos subject (mwahahahaha). But Memphis tends to get really jealous and nervous when we have other dogs come to stay, hence the extra love today. And yes, that means as of tomorrow the humans will officially be outnumbered in our house.
