Oh, how I love the weirdo plants! It seems the only kinds of plants or flowers I want in my yard are the kind that you might find in a Dr Seuss book. And that up there? That's prairie smoke. I don't have this in my yard (yet!), but I found in while on a walk at the arboretum last night with my buddy Nicole. We headed out there to explore and scout out photo locations, and it is gorgeous (and bug free!) this time of year. For your internet share today, it's dark and rainy in Minneapolis right now which is making me want to eat this. Yum.
Oh you guys, this is Watson and he stole my heart today. And that name! I love that name for a dog!I was at a new client's home doing headshots, when her lovable pup came in to greet me. So.... I took a bunch of photos of her dog. Because I am me, and this is what I do. I love up the canines. I just can't stop myself. And look at that love up there! I love those moments! (Don't worry, I got a gazillion good headshots as well -- it's just that the dog photos are always my favorite.)For your internet share today, I'm sharing this article that hit home for me so close today that I am almost embarrassed to share it. As if this person is writing about *my* feelings instead of her own. Warning: It is a touchy subject, and by no means am I turning into someone who thinks everyone should have a baby. I think choosing to not have kids is a very smart and very valid option. But I have turned into someone who thinks that I may have been really wrong about life in the past, and I'm glad that at this ripe old age I can still learn new things about myself. And whoooo boy, am I learning a lot over here.
Oh hi there! Today, I'm going to post a few behind-the-scenes pictures from the ballet shoot last week.A few of the images are actually what was happening behind the scenes, but many of these are outtakes that are not being used because they were the "in between" moments. Those are the moments when a dancer was finishing a jump or for some reason their technique just wasn't perfect enough, or I caught them pondering what to do next. Anyway, I know a lot of you like seeing the background stuff, so here you go! Enjoy.
And man do I have internet shares for you today! First off, this guy must be a huge hit at children's birthday parties. Or, if I could do that, that's how I would make money anyway. Also, check out these amazing images of bird feathers. Seriously! Go look! And lastly, now that we're spending so much more time outside on the patio, I am of course interested in more portable speakers. So pretty! And I'm reposting this image from last week because I love it and I would hate it if any of you missed it.
I took Mom back to the airport tonight, and the last time I flew out was on a Tuesday night as well. You guys! Everyone should fly on Tuesday nights! Look at those lines! What lines, you ask? EXACTLY. There are zero lines at the airport on Tuesday nights. I highly suggest traveling at this time. For your internet share of the day, how about this month's cover story from Bon Appétit on how to grill the best burger? Yeah. Let's do that.

This week my mom is in town for her birthday, so we have been super busy with work, guest, baby, life. This is why I *forgot* to blog last Friday! Can you believe it?! That is the first time in more than six years that I have plain forgotten to blog. Sorry about that!Let's see... the highlight of the week was probably when I waved goodbye to Ezra Friday morning as he headed off to daycare and HE WAVED BACK AT ME. And he meant to! On purpose! I was pretty excited about that. It's funny how parenthood changes what excites you. Here are a few photos from last week.Mom eating the licks from the bowl while I baked her birthday cake. This is me giving Ezra his very first haircut. I was just cleaning up the hair round his ears a bit.Saturday morning we had an *amazing* brunch with friends. Mmmmm.... Waffles.....While at brunch, Ezra got to finally meet our friend Claire, who he took to immediately. And what is he gazing at here? Claire's granddaughter, Evie, who Ezra was *fascinated* with. Oh, how he like watching her. And her cats.Evie gave Ezra some of her old toys that aren't as interesting to her anymore, and Ezra was entertained all weekend long. Here we are eating dinner al fresco. This week the kid tried shrimp, short ribs, asparagus soup, basil, lentil stew and chocolate cake. Honestly, avocado is still the kid's favorite. And blueberries. Here's Mom, blowing out her birthday candles! For your internet share of the day, here's something that will sear into your brain forever.
On Tuesday, after the shoot with those amazing ballerinas, I had a presentation with a dog rescue group in town. I was going over tips on how to take better photos of the dogs they rescue, so they might get them adopted faster. One of their dogs, Bridge up there, was brought in as my model. What a sweetheart! He's about two years old, and the is sooooo snuggly. He just leans in to you and smothers you with kisses, but in a very gentle (non-Magda) fashion. If you would like more information on this cutie, you can find it here. For your internet share of the day, it's getting warm in Minnesota, so let's make some popsicles, yeah?
Oooooh yesterday was so much fun. This is an outtake from a day full of ballet photos and wow, was it amazing. I will do a post later with some finished images, but I know some of you like the behind-the-scenes view, so here it is. Also? All this rain and humidity is warping my paper rolls which means I will be spending tons of time in photoshop this week. Ah well, worth the price for these shots. For your internet shares today, check out who owns your favorite organic brands -- fascinating!
You know I've been shooting a lot of families lately, right? Well this weekend, I was at the lake with another group when the three year old decided she had just plain had enough of her clothing. While the parents were pretty mortified, I thought it made for spectacular photos!I'm actually posting this image on Monday night because on Tuesday I'll be on location at a shoot from 7:30 am until 5 pm, and then I have a presentation that night, and there won't be a second left for blogging. For your internet share, Mt. St. Helens erupted thirty five years ago and here are some photos.
