summer meal

Mmmmm... dinner. This is one of our favorite summer dinners because it takes only 10 minutes to make. The key is in the tortilla. You put a few tablespoons of olive oil in a hot frying pan and fry up flour tortillas, browning them on each side. Yum. Then add your favorite ingredients on the crispy shell. My faves include black beans, corn, tomatoes, avocado, cilantro and a dash of salsa. Deeeelish.

meet merlin's nemisis

This is Laddie. Laddie moved in down the street a few weeks ago (has it been months maybe? not sure). Jamie and I LOVE seeing Laddie walk by each day because, let's face it, we're suckers for collies. But Merlin has an absolute fit when he sees Laddie coming. We suspect he's jealous of having another exceedingly handsome boy just down the block. We wish Merlin would settle down, because I would love to see them play. But, I doubt that's going to happen. Boys will be boys.

writer's uniform

Tonight vita.mn hosted a reading of short stories by local writers. I could only stay for the first few, but luckily I had read the stories beforehand, and I got to hear all of my favorites. I found it interesting that two of the four readers (both males) wore jeans and converse. Apparently, the writer's uniform. NOTE TO ALL MEN: You can only improve your outfit by wearing Converse. Or Vans. That's just my humble opinion.

baby bodhi

I went over to see Bodhi and family tonight after work (and to eat yummy Thai food). And look who finally woke up for one of my visits! He was such a good boy, and he loves posing for the camera. I love this shot because you can see how happy his dad is in the background.

crap! crap! crap!
0727nikon.jpg

My camera broke today. Not this one in the photo, but my DSLR. (The one above is from my first Nikon. The film one.) The part that is in focus is the part that broke off. I was looking at my old camera to see if I could replace this part myself. But I decided to leave it to the professionals. The good news is that three of my lenses still work with my D80. The bad news is that the one lens that won't work until I get this fixed is MY VERY FAVORITE LENS. Of course. If anyone out there has had this happen and has any ideas or cost estimates, please let me know.

a little down
0726mem.jpg

We're all a little mopey since vacation ends tomorrow. But Memphis appears to be taking it the hardest. She just can't understand why we don't have a lake in our backyard every day. She spent most of the day staring longingly out the window and sighing heavily. Poor girl.

wedding day

I shot a lovely wedding today, and these were the table decorations that the husband designed for the reception. The invitations matched the table tents that matched the programs that matched the cake that matched the wedding favors. It was all done so beautifully. I really appreciated the level of detail that was followed through the entire thing.

And the couple was amazing. Their family and friends were so fun and warm. It was a really great day. Plus I got to shoot it with Margaret, and we had a super fun time.

cabin life
0724cabin.jpg

I realized this morning that of all the images I had posted of our trip, none had been of the fabulous cabin that we stayed at! And man, was it fabulous. This was the living room. Due to overexposure, it's hard to see, but outside that window is the water. Like, RIGHT, outside that window. When sitting in the living room, it looks like you are on a boat. And yet, none of that queasy stomach feeling. Lovely, no?
