While today technically was a "vacation" day, I had so much freelance stuff to catch up on that I pretty much just worked all day at home. Memphis and Merlin are pretty easy going coworkers. Save for the snoring and mid-afternoon puke cleanup (thanks Mem). And yet? Still way better than working in a cubicle.
Anybody need a Christmas gift for your crafty friends or relatives? My friend London sell this yarn that she spins and dyes by hand. You can get it here. This is her latest batch that she brought into work today. Since I didn't leave my desk all day, this is what you get. I'll try to be a little more exciting tomorrow...
I decided to catch King Khan tonight at the Triple Rock, but was blown away by the opener, Those Darlins (above) instead. They were having a blast on stage, as was the crowd. And talk about sexy. You can see a few more shots from the show here. I'll see these girls every time they're in town. Oh, and the last two shots in that set are King Khan. Much less attractive.
Look at me, posting a photo before 8 p.m. I am heading out tonight to see some music, but I'm pretty sure I can go ahead and call this the best part of my day. I got up early for 8 a.m. yoga this morning and stumbled into class with pillow creases still on my face. I look hot after 4 hours of sleep, lemme tell you. Anyway, I rushed into class so I could have two more hours with Kristy, my favorite yoga teacher on the planet (pictured above). She's heading back to Colorado this week, and I probably won't get to practice with her again until summer. This woman teaches one amazing class that shouldn't be missed. Also? Don't be too impressed with my early rise today. Afterward, I returned to bed and Jamie woke me up around 1 p.m. And I just might be showering and getting dressed for the first time today after I finish up this post. Love the holiday weekends.
Tonight was the Replacements Tribute at First Ave. It was celebrating the 25th anniversary since the release of Let It Be. There were tons of great local artists at the show, and lots of super fun performances. This was Jason Miller of The Evening Rig. He was havin' a goood time. Hell, everybody was.
Ahh, Thanksgiving with the family. Mom and Dad were here for the holiday, and after dinner we started our usual card tournament. Mom and Dad and I don't have a *ton* in common when it comes to our personal interests. Politics? No. Religion? Barely. Music? Ha. But cards? Yeah, we love to play our cards. And today, my cards completely sucked. I came in last in the tournament, and Dad beat us all. You can see the score from my round with Dad above. After he wrote that big zero, my 61-year-old father made his hand into an L and brought it to his forehead declaring me a loser. And I poured more wine.
I caught The Big Pink tonight at the Entry, which I was pretty excited about. They were really great live (You would not have believed the number of effects pedals on that stage. It was amazing). They had this big light show with smoke machines etc. that would have worked fine at the Varsity or maybe even the Triple Rock. But at the Entry it was just overload. Possibly seizure-inducing. Still a fantastic show though. :) This image is of Robbie Furze of The Big Pink on the right, and Damian Edwards from Crystal Antlers who came out for "Dominos." Of course, you can see a few more photos here (some are of the openers Claps and Crystal Antlers). Rumor has it, this band will be back in March. Fingers crossed.
Holiday deadlines are killin' me a bit at work this week. So I didn't have much time to shoot in the daylight, resulting in me shooting a bathroom faucet. Lame. I know. But look at that great typography on the handle! This sink was original to our house, and I love these knobs. If we ever move, I'm gonna take these with me.
