So. Where to begin. This is Macklemore. Do you have his new album? You should. It is one of my favorites of 2012 by FAR. I saw him perform a few songs this summer at Soundset, but I had just arrived at the festival and was a touch overwhelmed when I stepped into the pit for his last song. But after that, I knew I needed to see more... and then his album came out this fall, and it featured raps about wizards! And dragons! And thrift shopping! And it made me smile so big and dance in my office chair so, so much. And man, I was excited for this show. And it was totally worth it.There were capes. And scooters. And wigs. And confetti guns. And backup dancers. And fur coats. You guys, it was a TREAT. To see all the photos, look here. Also? He's playing again Saturday night, and I'd love, love, love to go. But it's sold out... so if you have a hookup? Let a girl know. Pretty please.
I work with a bunch of crafty women over at the Star Tribune, and many of them are amazing knitters. I don't say that lightly or sarcastically at all -- I tried knitting for a bit, and wow, I do NOT have the patience for that. Anyway, my coworker Ruth came in today with this scarf she made, and if you know anything at all about knitting, you know that this is an amazing piece of work right here. We did the math, and it contains more than 32,000 stitches. And in other, non-related news, I have contracted a head cold that I am at WAR with using vitamins and medicine and tea and juice because let's just talk about how much I don't want to be sick this weekend. Blergh.
Um, yeah. So all that's really going on around here lately is prep work for the art show. We've been trying to frame a few prints every night after work. To say we are kinda tired is an understatement, but it will all be worth it on Sunday!
Kinda exhausted over here. Today at work was full of ups and downs and "yay this is happening!" and "no, this could not happen" and "maybe if you work real hard at this it can happen!" and "no, there's no way it can happen" and "maybe NOW it can happen!" I can't really get more specific than that, but I got home and was beat and had three pieces of bacon for dinner and now I think I'll go to bed. But then again, there was bacon involved, so it couldn't have been too hard of a day, eh?
I forgot to blog. Oh, I had the image chosen. I had it processed. But there was a Kansas basketball game on last night, and I was eager to finish up my client work so I could go watch. And then I woke up this morning and realized that I forgot to actually *post* my image yesterday! Wow, overworked much?Anyway, so apologies for the tardiness! This is the lovely Sophie who I photographed Monday afternoon. I've found that when I shoot high school seniors, I really love looking at the outtakes because I like seeing them when they aren't smiling so big and bright. It's a little more of a glimpse of them, I think.
This morning I got to attend and document the birthday party of someone turning 90. And man, this guy was sharp as a tack! It was a lovely morning, and it was so interesting to document a large family event that wasn't so much about the start of a new chapter (like many wedding or baby shoots are), but rather a celebration of someone's many life accomplishments. Many of you know that my own grandmother is in her 90s, and is also razor sharp. It must have something to do with all those word puzzles and red wine. And if that's the case, I should make it to 150.
