Check out my new sneakers! I designed them on converse.com after my friend Stacy told me that they had new skull patterns available. Fun, no?But the best part of today wasn't the new kicks (those actually came in last night). The best part was attending the Jonsi concert. It was an absolutely amazing show, and I'm so, so sorry that I don't have any photos for you. I would get into why that is, but I'm in a too good of a mood to go there. If you get a chance to see this show, don't even think twice -- buy the tickets. It's visually stunning.
Margaret and I had a Ladies Night Out tonight. We hit up six bars in seven hours, and we had a great time. Since I was driving, I was sober. Margaret on the other hand.... Not so much. But it was great to see her have so much fun. This was a Bentley that we happened upon after Bar No. 1. It was shot with my iPhone.
I think I have mentioned before how much I love watching the ferns unfurl this time of year. Sometimes I think if I just sat real quiet at night, maybe I could hear them growing. Plus? Great color, no?
Deadline day. You know what that means... lots of time in the office. I did, however, take a break at lunch to get my boots shined in the skyway. There's this great corner shine shop in the US Bank building where a guy named Art will shine your boots for $7. That is WAY cheaper than the airport. Plus, I like getting my shoes shined -- it reminds me of my dad.
I stopped by my friend Kim's house on my way home from work tonight to talk about paper and printing and such. I'm working on designing/printing a stationery suite for her, and we hadn't seen each other in a while. She was in the middle of painting/fixing up a ton of great furniture that she has found or bought for cheap and refurbished. She's holding a sale in a few weeks, and is putting the final touches on many of her pieces. I particularly liked this bird house she had just painted. Do I have use for a bird house? Absolutely not. Was it fun to examine? You bet.
We went on a bike ride around the lakes tonight after work -- it is just lovely out right now (except for maybe the resulting allergies). And how fun to be back on the bike again! It must take years off one's life to ride a bike fast downhill.
Say hello to Mocha! She turned one today, and she had seven dogs over to celebrate. There were gourmet dog treats! And tennis balls! And running! And chasing! And slobber! It was a great time. And exhausting for all of us. But in a very good way. You can see the other pups over here, if you like that sort of adorableness.** IMPORTANT NOTICE: Did you notice that I have redone my website? Probably not if you read me through a reader. But if you have me bookmarked, you will want to change your bookmark to www.shuttersmack.com/blog. Sorry to create a little work for you guys, but I'm tryin' to make some dough around here. ;)
Today was Record Store Day! We stopped by the Electric Fetus to pick up some vinyl and new music and to see the Dr. Dog in-store performance. They are playing the Fine Line tonight, but since that club charges more than five bucks for a Grain Belt, I try to avoid it at all costs (there are other reasons, but that one is pretty big). Dr. Dog played almost a full set, and it was one of the best in-stores I've ever seen. It was like hipster Christmas! If you want to see more photos from the in-store, they are over here.
