Hot damn, today was a good day. I won some concert tickets, got a hot dress in the mail, ordered a brand new uber-awesome camera and had a great yoga class. And! When at the show tonight, the minute it started getting boring and I was regretting it just a bit, a c.r.a.z.y. fan who had jumped on stage earlier, stole the mic from the lead singer and began reciting horrible poetry incorporating rhymes about the Iron Range (presumably where he was from). He had to be pulled away from the mic by 3 Hell's Angels. Maybe later I'll update this post with images of said fan. But talk about spicing up the show! Extremely entertaining. In this photo you have Corey Chisel performing. He was fine. Nothing spectacular, but not bad either. It was during his set that the fan grabbed the mic, saving me from boredom.
I'm trying to stay positive these days (hard to believe, I realize). So we're not gonna talk about work, eh? Sound like a deal? Just know that today we had a brief visit in the newsroom by Bodhi, Courtnay's little boy, and it provided a wonderful afternoon break. Just look at those cheeks!! He is so adorable. And I have yet to ever hear this kid cry.
Tonight was the vita.mn Hotness party, where we announced the finalists for the contest. It's a pretty great evening -- the people watching is supreme, that's for sure. It's a fun way to see the contestants again and in a more relaxing environment than the cover photo shoot. And did I mention there's an open bar? Much needed after today's issue deadline. And oh? What was that? You would like to see the finalists? Knock yourself out. They'll be at over at vita.mn after 1 pm this afternoon. Try not to break our server, please.
Check out these hot earrings my mom sent to me for Valentine's day. I got them in the mail yesterday, and I am super excited to have them on hand. Especially since I have this crazy "Hotness" party tomorrow night. You know, it's that party that vita.mn hosts where everyone shows up looking all hot and sexy. And I need to be there after working 12 hours on deadline at the Building of Tears where 26 of my friends are being let go that day (and what's not sexy about THAT??). So I'll have to somehow doll myself up after my shift ends and then head on over to the party. You better believe these earrings will be part of the outfit, cuz I'm just not sure how sparkly my personality can be after a day like that. Well, before a drink or two, that is.
A few years ago we took a fall road trip up to Maine and around the East coast. One of our very favorite stops was Burlington, Vermont. We found this place there called the American Flatbread Company that had the World's Greatest Pizza. Seriously. We ate 3 meals there in two days -- it was damn good stuff.Last week we were at Target, and we spotted American Flatbread Pizza offered in the freezer section. Exciting! While we were thrilled about the chance at eating this treasure in our own home, the thing cost TEN DOLLARS. I dunno about you guys, but I think that's pretty pricey for a frozen pie. So we pondered it, and decided to splurge and eat it during the Kansas vs. Texas game (way bigger deal to us than the Super Bowl). And tonight was the night. So the verdict? Ehhh. It's better than your average frozen pizza. But for ten bucks, I'd rather get something fresh from delivery. Or from Punch, which is also Damn Good Pizza. Oh, but the real verdict? My Jayhawks just *spanked* Texas. Go get 'em, boys.
I caught up with Julie today and we went to catch Avatar. We thought it would be a good day to go because the crowds would be small due to the Super Bowl. Um, we were wrong. Still crowded. Julie drove because she just got a *brand new* car (exciting!). And look at those beautiful eyes in that spankin' new rearview mirror. Such a cutie.
This morning I met up with Margaret, Kyle and Chandra in downtown St. Paul for a delicious, greasy breakfast at Mickey's diner and a photowalk afterward. We explored a few different spots, but I think the best light was in some of the round-windowed rooms in Landmark Center, where I snapped this photo of Margaret sprucing up her hair.
Today was pretty dull around our house. Lots of HTML, lots of design work. But there was a nice afternoon break that involved a little playing in the snow. Because they are my pups, and to me they are absolutely adorable, I could not choose just one image. So you can find more images here. You know, in case you need just a little more adorable in your day.
