Wow, what a night! I picked Mere up and we headed over to catch Astronautalis and Why? for an early show (doors at 6 pm!). I know he's on this blog a lot, but I might as well confess right now that there are a handfull of musicians who a) make fantastic photos and b) make fantastic music and c) make me want to sing/dance at their shows. And I will photograph those bands every single chance I get. Off the top of my head, they are the blondie up above, P.O.S., Titus Andronicus, Macklemore, Free Energy, The Joy Formidable and Deer Tick. I'm sure there are others, but those are the ones that are so fantastic that I can remember them at 2:39 am.This show was even more fun because he played a TON of old songs that I've never heard live (or a few that I could hear a million times, including this gem). And after watching the 3 bands that played this show, we grabbed dinner and headed to another one (where we caught three more bands). Lucky for me, they didn't go on until after midnight, and now my photo for tomorrow is taken care of! So you'll get to see that (along with more from this set) tomorrow... I hope.
Oh man, do I love this job. Today I got to play with Bentley here out in the fresh snow. B's a 10-year-old Bernese Mountain Dog, and he is gorgeous. I really struggled with which image to show you because of his sweet eyes, but I loved the happiness in this shot. Also? I'm not sure if you can tell in the photo, but I wouldn't be surprised if he weighed close to 100 lbs. Or maybe it was all fluff. Whatever, totally snuggleworthy.
Tonight I *finally* succeeded in getting a friend of mine to sign up for an online dating site. It only took ten dinners and close to 8 bottles of wine (over the last 8 months). The excitement and smiles once we had completed the final step of the questionnaire were well worth the wait though. If nothing else, we've already had priceless laughs over the profiles we've seen so far, and for that alone it was all worth it.Then I came home to find my two guys snuggled in on the couch just like this. ADORABLE. I'm a lucky woman.
Today was tough. I've worked 25 hours in the last 48, and I am beat. But? Since it's Way Back Wednesday (aren't you glad I made that a thing? I am!), I thought I'd post an image reminding me of why I work this hard and why it's all worth it.This is an image of St. Vitus Cathedral in Prague -- I believe we visted this spot on the third day of our European vacation last year. If my week keeps up like this, I might have to plan another trip abroad asap. Maybe with palm trees. And Margaritas.
Tonight I stopped off at the Fetus on my way home from my ten-and-a-half-hour workday (yeah, this new computer system at the office still blows chunks) to see Wolf Lords play a free in-store show. Their album dropped today, and it's pretty solid. But live? Holy moly, these songs are just phenomenal live. It's like being swallowed by sound -- in a good way. And lucky for you they play their CD release show this Saturday. So I'll see you there? Yeah? And to see more photos of the lovely Aby (and Grant) you can look here.
