0714viviannesmHow fun is this little one? This was one of my outtakes from earlier in the week (at the toothbrush shoot). I just couldn't forget about this wink, so I thought I would share it.It's Friday! I have a date tonight! And fun weekend plans! And I've gotten 7-8 hours of continuous sleep each night this week! So, in general, life is great right now.For your internet share of the day, this puppy swarm sums up my emotions pretty well right now. But if that doesn't make you smile (are you even human?!), this burly man raising two deer fawns will. I promise.

0716coffeewWelcome to one of my very favorite spots in town. This morning, I met with a former colleague to talk about life as a freelancer as I sipped on an amazing cafe au lait. Also? Next door is an amazing, teeny tiny black building with lime green doors that I fantasize about someday moving Shuttersmack HQ into.Don't get your hopes up. It is pure fantasy... but the space is the right size, it has a wall of windows for natural light... and it's right next door to my favorite coffee spot. Should I win the lottery, I will not only buy up all the light fixtures I showed you yesterday, but I might move in next door to Bull Run. These are my dreams. For your internet shares today, this recipe has me finally willing to buy a spiralizer. Seriously, I am pretty anti-kitchen-gadget, but this dish looks amazing... Second, I am enjoying the hell out of this new music. Third, how fun would it be to live here? I seriously covet that floor. And lastly, this came out when I was in Kansas and missed it, but holy cow batman, let's all use this facial recognition software to find lost dogs, shall we?

0715rainw.jpg

0715rainwI got out for my walk with Magda today (and Mere joined me! Fantastic!) and the air was THICK. The humidity here the last few weeks is rivaling that of Miami -- which is no good at all. But then, once we were inside, and I was back at my desk working, I heard it. The thrumming of heavy rain on the roof. A quick look out the window confirmed sheets and sheets of rain pouring down. Oh, how I love these midday storms. For your internet share of the day, I'm sending you over to my latest pinterest board on lighting. I'm looking for a piece to replace my dining room chandelier that came with the house (Home Depot circa 2003). I love all of these, and many of them were first spotted at that amazing house I was photographing a few days ago. Oh, how I would love to update my light fixtures. But I might need to win the lottery first... Which are your favorites?

the best kind of models
0714kidssm.jpg

0714kidssmToday I had a full day of photographing people brushing their teeth. I tell you what, I cannot make this stuff up! But it was super fun as I had amazing models, a FABULOUS location and some super creative and fantastic stylists/art directors. I love working with an amazing team to create beautiful images -- especially when there's great humor and a relaxed crew. These guys up here were some of my models. I had my camera tethered to my computer -- I was shooting in a spectacular bathroom, and the art director was in the bedroom next door watching the images come into my computer. While I was photographing one child, the rest of the kids would gather round to watch the images come in. How cute are they here!? Waiting to see photos of their friends! I love it!For your internet share of the day, I love this battle that a graffiti artist took on. And these are some amazing baby toys if you need ideas for a gift (Ezra has and loves no. 6). And if you love Orphan Black like I do, this will make you laugh.

monday at the madhouse // crawling!
01w2.jpg

01wIt was a pretty busy week around here! Ezra was crawling all over the place, he had another haircut, and ... dare I say this out loud... he slept like a CHAMP. Also, he is sooooo in love with Magda, and she can barely leave his side when he's eating (since dropping food right into her mouth is his favorite hobby). Photos of the week are below -- enjoy!02w 03w 04w 05w 06w 07w

props galore!

collageYesterday, I had a huge shoot at the studio for Post-It Notes. As you can tell from the props in the photos, it was waaaayyy more fun than just those amazingly useful little sticky pads. I had a fantastic styling team at my side, and since it was so glorious outdoors, we used the new patio out back as our staging area (where I snapped these photos). The internet share today is going out to all you "outdoorsy" people. I am not outdoorsy, nor would I ever claim to be. But! If I *did* enjoy sleeping on the ground surrounded by biting bugs and potential ax murderers, here is a wonderful site to help you choose where to camp. And! If you, like me, get a little nauseated just thinking about pitching a tent, this might be a better way to roll. I think even I could enjoy that...

milo the magnificent
0709milow.jpg

0709milowAnother day, another wonderful shoot with an amazing pitbull mix. I have had nothing but wonderful sweetness from this breed in my line of work, and I love photographing their sweet, sweet faces. This pup, Milo, belongs to the fabulous VetGirl (aka, Dr. Justine Lee). If you don't follow this lady on Facebook/Twitter etc and you are a dog lover, you should get right on that. Her updated posts on the recent outbreak of dog influenza are worth it alone!I had a 9-hour shoot today (not with dogs, but rather with office supplies -- and it was way more fun than it sounds), but I had no time to troll the internet, so I'll try to make it up to you tomorrow. In the mean time, go snuggle the ones you love, eh?

01w1.jpg

01wHey there! I had the sweetest newborn session last night -- look at that adorable outfit that baby boy has on! This week is crazy busy with summer shoots, so I expect to post a lot of images from my paid gigs -- I hope y'all are cool with that. For your internet share of the day, at this point in time, this is the profession that Ezra is most skilled for at the moment. And I would be THRILLED.But if that doesn't interest you (WHICH IT SHOULD), here is the proper way to load the dishwasher. Word.
