After work tonight I checked out the new Co art gallery in town. It's a really cool space with all kinds of potential (art! music! fashion! receptions!). It has these amazing 20-foot ceilings and gorgeous warehouse windows. Plus? A full kitchen for catering. There are gonna be some great parties in this place down the line. The show that opens there on Saturday is called Wings and Teeth, and its an exhibit full of Doomtree art (both original album artwork as well as fan-created art). And to be expected, there will be live performances by Doomtree members. Told ya it was gonna be cool.
Dude. Today SUCKED. I was gonna go see the Jayhawks tonight at First Ave, but I just didn't have it in me. So I sat on the porch and ate these wonderful frozen grapes and tried to forget about the office. And I played with the dogs. Dogs make everything better.
Mmmmm... good day today. This photo was of my breakfast. The red velvet cake at Salut is my favorite cake in town -- and it's always a good way to start things off. The rest of the day involved amazing conversations with friends (via telephone, email and in person) and lots of wonderful presents. (The Wall on vinyl, a spankin' new camera bag, and great books, paper and jewelry.) I'm going to bed with a smile on my face for sure tonight. And not just because of all that delicious wine.
Rock the Garden was today. And while the shows were fine, I just have to say it. I hate festivals. Too much sun. Too much happy. I like my rock'n'roll in dark clubs in the middle of the night. But now that we've cleared that up, I thought the show was pretty solid. This photo was from OK Go's set. and yes, they had confetti cannons. I was highly entertained by their antics. If you're going to keep an entire festival entertained, I think band antics are a good ploy. You can see my full set of photos from the day over here. How about that? Me finishing them up before bedtime. What a treat.
Meet Delta Spirit. They will rock your face off (in the best way possible). The show tonight at the Varsity was so good and so fun and yet way too short. If you don't have their latest album, go buy it. And if they are coming to your town (highly likely) go see them. I cannot emphasize how fantastic they are live. Bonus: They have fun merch. As usual, I'll post more shots tomorrow. I Promise. Also? If they look familiar, it's because I shot them at barnstormer in May. And yeah, I think I could see them play just about every month of the year.UPDATE: The rest of the photos are up over here. A little grainy, but hella fun.
