day at the park

I had a shoot with this adorable guy today. We were over at Como lake and there were ducks geese and .... um .... gooselings? What do you call baby geese? Whatever. Let's just say they were adorable and fuzzy. It was a gorgeous day here, and man do I have spring fever. Also? Totally insane weekend. Next weekend will be much calmer. I think.

on a boat

Margaret and I had a girls night out planned for this evening, which included a trip down to the river to see MDS play a show from a barge. Kyle was heading down as well, and he was sweet enough to offer to drive us. So it was ladies night with a chauffeur! Awesome. We spent about an hour on a houseboat in the middle of the Mississippi River waiting for the show to start, but there was plenty to keep us occupied (bats, duckling or hipster-watching, anyone?). This was a shot of me and Margaret's feet as we waited. Once the show started, it was too dark to get any meaningful shots. Oh, I shot anyway, but none of them were that great. So you get to look at my shoes instead. Congrats!

gayngs

Look at that sharp dressed man! Tonight was the Gayngs concert at First Ave, themed "The Last Prom on Earth," which meant the crowd and the band dressed up for the formal affair. It was so fun to see all my buddies all cleaned up. And not to mention the musicians! Check out POS here! Look at that shiny, bald head. LOVE it.Also, for those of you unfamiliar with Gayngs, yes, that is Justin Vernon of Bon Iver on guitar. And you know who else was at First Ave tonight? PRINCE. I know! Again! That man is hittin' the scene. As usual, I took tons of photos. But the birds are starting to chirp outside, and I need to be up in less than five hours. So I'll post them later tomorrow, I promise. The photos are up over here. Classy.

clear skies

The dark rain clouds finally started to clear up tonight on the way home from work. Finally. This weekend is supposed to be sunny and 70 degrees, and I cannot wait! Lots of fun to be had in the next several days.

murder by death

I caught Murder by Death at the Triple Rock tonight, which was a very good show. But while the band was great live, the highlight of the day was meeting up with my buddy Will, and having enough time to sit down and have a few drinks discussing careers and Keepers. OK, we didn't discuss Keepers that much, I just like bringing it up cuz it makes him blush.More photos of the show are up over here. Enjoy!

spring rain
irissm.jpg

Today the high was 45 and it rained all day. But it didn't bother me too much -- it's supposed to be sunny and 70 this weekend, so I can take the cold during the work week. This is one of the irises from our backyard. When we moved in there were about 30 of them that would sprout but never bloom, so we spent an entire weekend separating and replanting them. And this is the ONE that has come back after all of that work. Not that I'm bitter about it. Damn squirrels.

frightened rabbit

Tonight we caught Maps and Atlases (above) and Frightened Rabbits at the Varsity (you can see photos of both bands over here). Frightened Rabbits was the third scottish band (at least) that I've seen this year, but none have lived up to the first, which was Franz Ferdinand. Those are my favorite Scots by far. But these guys did come in second.
