So it was summer here in Minneapolis. And then it was winter. I think we had about two hours of fall in there somewhere, but that's it. This morning on my way to work I spotted this tree amid the sleet/snow that was coming down around me, and I figured I should probably shoot this image while I could. Because when I return from San Francisco next week, we might be buried in snow. But at least I'll get to skip the raking then.... hopefully.
Margaret took me down to the basement today at work to shoot some portraits. I caught this one of her checking her shots. I love her scarf and her strap and her gloves. Queen of accessories, that one.
How cute does Madge look in her Halloween wig! She came by the house tonight for dinner and wine and gossip. I always have so much fun catching up with this lovely lady. And the dogs love having a real, live rollergirl in the house. It's fun for everyone!
We woke up this morning to giant flakes and about an inch of snow. Luckily, it has all melted, and there was no need for shoveling or scraping the car. Which is awesome, because it is way too early for that crap. Even Merlin, who normally loves to frolic in the snow, seemed a bit miffed this morning.
Today was Jamie's birthday. He didn't want cake, but rather brownies with vanilla ice cream. So that's what he got. Plus a day full of red wine, roasted chicken, lounging in front of the fireplace and a little Zombieland. I think he had a pretty good day.
Jamie and I hobbled over to the Zombie Pub Crawl this afternoon to snap a few portraits. I didn't dress up this year, but I really should have. With the horse-injured foot, I had the natural gait of a zombie anyway. This woman was one of my favorites. I love the leaves in the hair -- such a nice touch. You can see more zombie images right here. There were much fewer people this year than last, although I suspect many were going to head out later tonight.
I headed out to the horse ranch with Catherine this afternoon. I got to shoot lots of photos of the horses, and I got to ride for the first time in many, many years. The horses were super friendly and right up in my grill, which was highly entertaining. I had to get out my macro lens to get this shot, that's how close they were. If you want to see the rest of the shots, you can do so right here. The only downside to this lovely afternoon was when one of the horses stepped on my foot with her entire weight. Ouch. I think I'll survive though.
I went with my friend Stacy to see the new Peter Wolf Crier performance in town tonight. It was really interesting. And strange. And interesting. Did I say that already? Anyway, you buy a certain level of ticket, and that gets you different access to different performances throughout this house they have rented in St.Paul. While the band is playing, there are performance artists (actors? mimes? dancers?) doing their thing as well. In this shot, one of the actors was dancing around in front of Peter. Anyway, as weird as the show was, the music was great, and I loved the sound. And it's probably as close to theater as I'll get this year. So there you go.
