Grandparents package

Do you have tons of memories with your grandparents? Or just a few?

I, personally, have a few memories, but not a ton. The ones that are crispest to me are the ones that were documented with lots of photos or videos (like Easter Egg hunts at Grandma’s house). Besides those, I have very vague memories of my grandmother’s kitchen while we decorated cookies or of the smell of her den while she taught me how to play cards.

This has truly illustrated for me how much photography and films help us to cement our memories — and how these images keep details about loved ones alive, long after they’re gone.

Now, imagine if you could have a family film with the grandparents.

If you could capture the sound of your child’s voice as it is right now, along with their grandparent’s? Children might not remember their grandparents’ voices later in life, much less the ways they smiled at them or relished their time together. But a family film highlighting this special relationship is a perfect way to create a true family heirloom that solidifies your kids memories of your parents.

To make the most of these sessions, I highly suggest planned activities for the grandparents and grandkids. Posed photos will not hold the same meaning over time (although we can snap a few of those along the way). I would rather document a true experience. Some ideas would include:

• A day of baking

• A trip to the llama farm

• Ice cream at a lakeside beach

• Planting a garden together

• Painting some pottery together

Also, please note that I am allowing up to six subjects for these shoots. My intention is not for it to be a multigenerational session, but more a grandparent with multiple cousins. This gives even more meaning to the gift, and makes the cost splittable among families if needed.
