cutie pie
I have been taking photos of this kid for a few years now, but today? Today she stole my heart.I was at her house at 7 am for the best light (apologies to her wonderful parents) and to snap photos of her and her brand new baby sister. When I got there, she was watching cartoons in her jammies. As she went to get dressed, she opened her dresser and exclaimed, "Yay! It's clean!" and pulled out a blue t-shirt. It was inside out, so I had no idea what was so special about this shirt, but her dad had to quickly remind her that she was wearing a dress for today's photos. She was... disappointed. But we promised her she could wear her favorite shirt later.Throughout the shoot she charmed me with her toy skateboard, toy rockets and even her astronaut helmet. But as we were winding down the session, I asked her if I could snap a few last images of her in her bedroom and she could put on her favorite shirt. When she jumped at the chance, and then turned the shirt right-side-out and I saw it was an Arcade Fire shirt, I was officially smitten. I asked her if she knew what Arcade Fire was, and she started humming a song and asking if I wanted to see her ride her bike like in the Arcade Fire video. You guys, this kid is TWO. Amazing. Her mom told me that she listened to a ton of Arcade Fire when she was pregnant, and she even saw them in concert then (and that's when she bought this t-shirt for her daughter). I love this story so much.Ok, now let's talk about the internet share of the day. It's about SHARKS! It's a website that tracks sharks and their swimming! They tag the sharks in New Haven and then each time the shark's dorsal fin breaks the surface of the water, it marks a ping on the map. Play around with the filters a little, and you can see their swimming patterns as well. So damn cool.
