fire and ice

0101firesmWow, right? This is the second time since I moved to Minneapolis that I have seen firefighters fight a blaze when it is less than zero degrees out (when I shot this it was -2). It is amazing how quickly the water freezes, and the streets around the blaze get SO slick because of all the water runoff. This fire was in a grocery store and apartment building in South Minneapolis right next to the Triple Rock (where I shoot so many shows). The story in the Strib says two floors collapsed and 14 were injured with 10 in critical condition. Three people as of now are unaccounted for. You can read more here.I shot this photo my way back from an *amazing* engagement session today that I had so much fun at. I was driving home, pondering which shot would make the blog when I saw the smoke near the highway. I had heard about the fire around 9 this morning, but I was stunned that at 4 pm it was still going. Man, house fires are so devastating. I cannot imagine everything I own going up in smoke. Luckily, I read the Red Cross was helping out with a couple hundred bucks to help the residents out immediately. I'm not sure how far that will go, but I guess it's better than nothing. For your internet share of the day, I'm sending you to the most anticipated album releases of 2014. I, myself, am super excited for more music from Robyn and TV on the Radio. Who are you most excited to hear from?
