oh brother

post by leslie

A few years ago I got to photograph a newborn session for this wonderful family, and last week they added another little boy to the mix! It's so fun to see families grow and to play with the bigger kids between snapping sweet shots of the baby. Don't you adore this baby's big blue eyes?Shoots like this one are often hard for the older sibling, because it's one of many things that is focused on the baby and not on the elder child (who has usually been an only until now). And that's totally normal! So many parents worry about their kids' behavior during these sessions, and I want you all to know that I've seen it all. Remember, I'm a parent myself, and nothing shocks me. I build in extra time for these sessions because I'm prepared for poop explosions, tantrums and multiple feedings. It's all relaxed and part of the day, so let's all agree that there's nothing to sweat about. It's all worth it for the moments and memories we capture. (And please know that I love taking photos of tantrums. I won't share them with the world because I hope you will -- on said child's wedding day!)Also know that the sweet brother in these photos did not throw a tantrum, and was a normal, great kid during the shoot. I just thought it was a good time to bring all of this up!
