I had an amazing wedding on Saturday (see above!) and it had a dog, a tandem bike and an amazingly beautiful ceremony over at the American Swedish Institute. I cannot wait to show you photos later this week! But for now, this sneak peek will have to do.For your internet shares of the day:+ This gun violence is out of fucking control. Here's how to do something about it.+ It would be funny if it weren't so sad.+ And more about the bang-up job our country is doing.

Last week, I got to photograph two of my friends getting married in a tiny ceremony in a huge church surrounded by those they loved most.I am certain I have told you before, but photographing weddings for people I know is just about the greatest honor ever, and this was no exception. Also, I think I've mentioned how much I adore small weddings. This one had a guest count of twenty. That's right, twenty. It was intimate and sweet and perfect.More photos below -- enjoy!

slowing down. or trying.

Every fall, I have a bit of a personal dilemma.Autumn is my favorite season, hands down. It makes me want to cozy up with my loved ones, play cards by the fire, sip wine and cook huge meals for family and friends. I want to leave the windows open at night and snuggle under mountains of blankets, bake all kinds of new recipes and go on evening walks with the dog.But.But fall is also my busiest time for work. It is by far the season in which I am completely slammed -- mostly with jobs I LOVE doing. And because I love my work, I have a habit of taking too much on and then kicking myself for not having enough down time.I was pondering this problem (again) last night while examining my calendar, and I decided that I needed to slow down where I could. And one option for that was to walk to school with Ezra today. His school is about a mile away. We often bike or drive there, but I have fond memories of walking to and from school when I was young, and I'm a firm believer in that time being important for decompressing for the day or preparing for what's to come. So I leashed up the dog (my poor sweet girl deserved a walk so, so badly), loaded Ezra and all of our gear in the stroller, and headed out.It took me a full hour for the entire process, but I'm not going to lie, it was a pretty great way to start the day. We talked about who he wanted to play with today at school, we pointed at all the trees that were changing color and we laughed at Magda and how excited she was. It was really nice.I hope I can keep up these walks every once in awhile -- although I almost think they'd be even better for the way home.Anyway, here are a few photos I snapped on the way  home. The bees are so sluggish right now with the cooler weather! That was a fun surprise! And for your internet shares of the day:+ Gorgeous photos of the Faroe Islands. + Lorde covers Phil Collins.+ Refrigerator envy.+ Get uncomfortable. Reap the benefits.

my sweet magda

It's been a while since my sweet office mate was featured here on the blog, so I thought I'd just do an update.Magda is fantastic. She is so patient with her nemesis, Ezra, who drops food constantly and yet yells at her for taking it from the floor. I know, girl. We are trying to work on his manners. She's clearly got the "snuggle up all day no matter where mom is working" game down pat, and this time of year she is usually thrilled with our daily walks. I say usually because due to this head cold and the ton of work I'm buried under, it's been too long since we had a long, proper walk. But as soon as my head clears, I'm making time for you my sweet. On the up side? Did I mention all the food Ezra drops on the floor constantly? Someone is getting spoiled. For your internet shares of the day:+ I want to see the new Wes Anderson film.+ In case you think women are treated equally when it comes to work.+ Desperation minestrone. Yes, please.

autumn is here. i think. maybe.

It has finally cooled off... I hope. I feel like I keep thinking, "Yay! Fall is here!" And then two days later it's 93 degrees, ruining my happiness. But for now (at least) it appears that the 90-degree days are behind us. Maybe now we can take out the window air conditioners! I did, after all, have my first pumpkin spice latte yesterday.I shot this image of tall grasses during one of my many family shoots last week. I loved the light and the autumn that appears right around the corner. If you stop and concentrate, you can even smell it. Oh man, this time of year is my FAVORITE.Okay, now for your internet shares. They are all food. Sorry (not sorry).+ First, this pumpkin cake looks delicious.+ Second, ideas for the kids' lunch boxes. I'm new to packing a lunch every day, and these tips are helpful.+ Third... wait. I'm taking out a food one because this is better! Check out this time lapse on a cargo ship! The Milky Way! Planets! Ports! Wow!

I had a gorgeous wedding on Friday at the Basilica, and man was it HOT. And I wasn't even the one in formal wear! But this was such a wonderful and intimate wedding -- only 20 guests! I'll blog more about it later this week (and more photos!), but I wanted to tease you just a bit with this beautiful bride. For your internet shares of the day:+ This made me snort with laughter at my desk. Happy Monday!+ This story stunned me. As if freshman year isn't hard enough?+ Have you heard about this gravity blanket? I am intrigued. But for now I'll just throw a heavy quilt on the bed for winter.

Bravo.+ I want these jeans.+ This might be delicious.

the power of wallpaper

Yesterday, I got to photograph my friend's new house. You might have seen it on the internet before she bought it. This particular friend of mine has *serious* style. Her previous home blew me away, her clothes are fabulous, and she's just an overall amazing lady. For instance, she was giving me a tour of the home, and we got to the storage area in the basement."What is *that*?" I ask."Oh! That's a burlesque costume! It's a skirt that looks like a bunch of grapes!"I mean, who has such amazing finds in their basement storage? Not I.Below are a few more shots from the house. They are going to take down some of the wallpaper soon (replacing it with more modern patterns) due to wear and tear or personal taste. This shoot was to document the in-between before the makeover. Pretty spectacular, if you ask me. (And of course I took photos of the animals. How could I resist?) And now for your internet shares. Lots of food in here ... you know how I love to cook when the temperatures drop!+ Pumpkin gnocchi with sage butter sauce. Yup.+ Chicken Parmesan meatballs. Wow.+ And for the unhungry among you (who is THAT?!?), have you seen the new household line at Target? Fabulous.
