winter hikes

The weather this week is phenomenal (for those of you who don't live in the Twin Cities). We are talking 30s and 40s, and that, my friends, is remarkable. Especially after our weeks in the teens!Because of this, we went for a long hike through one of our favorite parks this weekend, and I snapped a few images. No, I don't know what Ezra spilled on his jacket. Yes, Magda was buzzing with excitement and refused to look at the camera for fear she might miss whatever wildlife she was tracking, and no, I have no idea what my kid is doing with his tongue. It was a lovely day and a beautiful walk, and I hope to fit more in before we creep into the deep freeze of January. For your internet shares of the day:+ I normally hate Buzz Feed articles, but these made me laugh pretty hard.+ A perfect hostess gift. Especially if they have animals.+ Hippo sweat is pink? What?

Hooo boy! This morning I got to head back to my favorite doughnut shop in town for more photos! It's always a blast to stop in and get a treat, but getting to photograph (and smell!) the treats being made is even more fantastic!I was trying to pick my favorite doughnut today, but I really can't choose. I adore the brown butter glazed along with the butter cream filled and the lavender cake. They are all so good! If you haven't been yet, I can't suggest it enough!

As the season winds down, I've been photographing so many families and young ones, but this newborn session last week was super special. The little boy was a dream and I could not get over his adorable belly button! Also, he loves the vacuum cleaner, which his mom lugged around during the shoot to keep by his head. Hilarity! Internet shares of the day!+ I want to try to make these cookies this weekend. Snickerdoodles are my FAVORITE.+ The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is one of my favorite shows, and I love this interview with the lead actress.+ Short love stories.

the end of hannukah

Sunday night was the end of Hanukkah, so I captured a few shots of the boys lighting the candles. I love the ones with the Christmas tree in the background -- so much light and festivity this time of year.We had a solid weekend, but I am on top of the world because I have finished all of my family shoots for 2018! While I do absolutely adore all of these sessions, it's a relief to be done with the processing. But don't worry, I'm not done shooting for the year (just families!). In the next week I've got a ton of commercial work to get through and even a rescue dog (!!!), so you'll still be seeing some fun stuff around these parts.

Zion National Park

I spent last week in Zion National Park and WOW. My husband, Jay, and I had never been there before, and were just spellbound by the landscape. The park is partly known for its crowds during the peak summer seasons, but we were glad to be there in the off season which meant zero crowds, and we lucked out with lovely weather the entire time.We hiked miles and miles everyday into the mountains, and of course did the famous Narrows hike which required renting waterproof pants and footwear since the water is frigid this time of year. I couldn't pick a favorite part of the trip if I had to - every moment and every view was spectacular. Below are a few photos that I hope capture an ounce of the experience!

Last weekend, when it began to snow, I ran outside to capture the flakes (before throwing Magda into the backyard for some fun). We've had some truly lovely snowfalls this year, and I didn't want the week to pass by without posting these images. It makes me want to settle back onto the sofa in front of the fireplace.I hope you all have a wonderful weekend ahead!

twins!

These twins are so fun to photograph! Their mom always chooses cute (but not too matchy) clothes and it is so fun to see them growing up and adjusting to their surroundings.Whenever I go into the home of a newborn, I always know that that family's world is a bit upside down, and they are just doing the best they can (I mean, we all are, right?). But when I go into a home of twins babies? And it's picked up? And the kids are dressed? And the mom is not in yoga pants? I am BLOWN AWAY. I don't know how these families do it, but it just goes to show what we can accomplish if we need to!And aren't they adorable? I think so. And of course I would be remiss if I didn't show you their amazing big sister, Nilla, below. For your internet shares of the day, I'm just listing out some artist prints that I love. I think prints make a wonderful holiday gift, especially if they are in a beautiful frame.+ Something for book lovers (like me!).+ Something childlike. And one more from that same artist.+ Something pretty.+ Something local and modern.
