Catherine and I lay on the dock in the early, early morning (like midnight) today to take a good long look at the stars. I am continually amazed by how much is out there, and how little we know about it.
This was a swarm of water bugs we saw on our sunset canoe trip the second evening. I love the lily pads and the reflection of the reeds on the water.
Nan, Catherine and I drove up to the cabin today and spent the afternoon on the dock, which was lovely. Around sunset, we decided to take a canoe trip to the beaver dams. The water was so nice and still, and the ladies paddled so that I could get some photos. We saw so much wildlife on this outing, and I was so mad that I forgot my zoom lens back in Minneapolis. Otherwise I could show you some Herons, a 6-point buck and a massively fat beaver. It was a beautiful night.
Wow! So tonight was the premier of Project Runway and ... (SPOILER ALERT. STOP READING IF YOU HAVE NOT WATCHED) ... I was lucky enough to watch the show unfold with the top two designers from the episode sitting right up front. I had been emailing with these two for work this week, and they were truly gracious and kind guys, so I was thrilled to see them both succeed in Episode 1. Plus, hello? Minneapolis represent! I can't wait to see how the rest of the season turns out. Fingers crossed!
PS: I am heading up north for a Ladies Weekend in the Woods. There is no cell service or internet (ripe for an ax murder attack, if you ask me). I will return on Sunday night (late) with photos from the weekend. Don't worry, I won't neglect you.
I took a few shots from the tornado that hit Minneapolis today. There seemed to be a lot of trees uprooted and some roofs with damage, but it mostly seemed contained to about a square mile area.
Tonight after work I cut up a cantaloupe for my "after-school snack," and man was it delicious. I love the pattern that the seeds make inside this fruit. And the smell! Don't even get me started on the sweet, sweet smell.
So, as usual, I worked on corrupting Theron a little more today. I was the first person to give this little guy chocolate back when he was probably WAY too young to have such an addictive substance (I think he was maybe 3 mos. old. Whatever). This resulted in my nickname: Auntie Chocolate. And today I am pretty sure I introduced him to his first iPhone and the wonderful world of Apple. (You can send that check directly to my home address, Mr. Jobs). Look at that smile!!
A shot from the plane as we crossed into Minnesota today on our way home.
