almost there...

I was too tired today to use a "real" camera. Plus, my fabulous D700 is in the midst of being sent in for repairs -- very sad, I know. So for the next few weeks I will be shooting mostly with my D80 (which now feels like a toy in my hands, although I promise it has been a fabulous camera to me in the past), and I will also be shooting more with my iPhone, just to mix things up.Anyway! Back to today's iPhone photo! This is our front yard now. It's a *little* sparse, but I've been told that the first year it will sleep, the second it will creep and the third it will leap. That's a little gardeners poetry for you all. And I bet you never thought you would get THAT from me. We have a few more plants to put in, which will happen on Sunday, and then voila! It will all be done!

bride and groom

Hellooooo beautiful wedding couple. Ms. Margaret and I headed out to the sticks today to shoot an absolutely gorgeous wedding. The couple are both amazing designers, and man, did it show. This was about the loveliest wedding I have ever seen. So here's the preview photo -- maybe I'll give you guys some more eye candy in a few weeks. Stay tuned.

dinner date

Kids, this week is kicking my ass. I have been working late a lot, and working on some freelance projects as well. But I have tomorrow off (blissful sigh) and I get to sleep in. Well, I have tomorrow off in the sense that I don't have to go to the cube farm. Instead I get to spend the day outdoors shooting a lovely wedding with a dear friend. So that will be a marvelous change of pace.Today's photo is of my dinner (the crying tiger salad) at Tum Rup Thai. Jamie took me there tonight after work, and man did I need a nice date night. And the weather was pretty much perfect. So yeah, I'm officially ready for the weekend starting..... NOW.

So I think we've covered this before, but I suck at gardening. Or rather, I hate gardening. Or maybe both. As spring and early summer rolled around, it became pretty evident that all of the bushes in our front yard were dead. Suddenly we had to "landscape." This is not something that either one of us are comfortable with, or really ever want to tackle. Anyway, my friends Nan and Mason are putting in our garden in the front yard (amazing, amazing people) since I suck at this. And it's getting to the point where I can see how it's going to shape up in the end -- and I love it! Who knew that I could be so excited about plants?! Sorry. I'll get over this Martha Stewart phase. Just gimme a few days to enjoy this, all right?

caution

I snapped this as I was walking over to the downtown post office this morning. I love the way these signs are painted in the alley -- great use of color and typography. For some reason it reminds me of a Dick Tracy set.

aww, my boy

I got home from work tonight and my colored paper had come in the mail! so I worked with Merlin for about 45 minutes with the studio lights. I finally got him to relax after we instituted the 1 photo = 1 piece of dog kibble rule.I have to admit, I spent about 30 minutes retouching this photo. Don't worry, I didn't touch up the dog or the lighting (I would have fixed that blasted shadow if I'd gone that far). But there was some serious drool on that paper, so that might be an issue when instituting the treats with the paper backdrop. This is all one large learning experience, lemme tell you.

sunday night dinner
sundaysm.jpg

Tonight our friend Meredith invited us over for Sunday night dinner. The real reason she did this (besides her kind and loving generosity) is because she's moving to Spain in November (yeah, I know... super jealous over here, too) and she's trying to get rid of all of her alcohol. And books! My, did I get a big stack of books to bring home.I probably should have taken a photo of Meredith herself or some dinner or something social. But I forgot about taking photos all together until we were literally walking out the door and Jamie says, "Oh, did you need something for Shuttersmack?" Oh! Right! That! So here you go, I give you Meredith's living room lamp. It's amazing you all even put up with me.

damn good dinner

We're trying to get through our crop share a little faster this week since we were out of town when it was delivered. So tonight I made this amazing stir fry for dinner. I never really follow a recipe, but I am writing this combo down, baby. I think the big difference was fresh ginger, garlic, basil and cilantro. It's rare that I have all four herbs around the house fresh, but man did that make a difference. If you would like the recipe, I have posted it on this other blog over here. Also, I finally posted yesterday's photos from the Basillica Block Party over here. Lots of Weezer photos. Enjoy.
