Hey guys! We are taking a quick jaunt up north this weekend, so I'm short on time to shoot/post today! Really quickly, my amazing friend Margaret took some gorgeous shots of our family a few weeks ago, and I thought you might want to see them. (Plus? Easy work for me!) So here are a few of my favorites! Second, I shot the Rural Alberta Advantage last night at The Entry, and you can see those photos over here, if you'd like. If you are unfamiliar with the band, here is my favorite song. And that's it! Have a wonderful weekend, and I'll catch you next week!
I met up with my dear friend Meredith this morning to take some new head shots of her (and her dog!). How cute is this girl!?!? And let me assure you, she is a great way to start the day. I've been having a hard week, and she had me laughing and smiling like crazy. We all need friends like that. Why am I having a hard week, you ask? Nothing major. I'm pretty stressed out about the election, to be honest. Ezra is in the throes of toddlerdome and potty training, and if you didn't know, that shit is hard. And the two of those things together are keeping me up a bit at night, which means I'm cranky. Hopefully (fingers crossed), this all gets a bit easier next week. But how about some internet shares to cheer us all up, eh?+ Did you hear Dessa is going to be on the new Hamilton soundtrack? How bananas is that!?+ Have you heard about these solar roofs? Man-oh-man I hope I win the lottery so I can get me one of those.+ This site shows you where your last name is most common. Mine is most popular in Germany! Which is nuts because none of the American Plessers I know will willingly set foot in the country that killed off their ancestors.
So do any of you have a fitbit? I wear one religiously, and while I rarely log my 10,000 steps these days (too much work at the computer!), the gizmo does buzz on my wrist each time an hour has passed and I haven't taken 250 steps. I am ashamed to say that this fall, with so much work on my plate, that it buzzes ALL THE TIME. So this afternoon I finally had a break and took sweet Mags out for a long walk to soak up the fall color. And I brought my camera! The photo at the top is one of my favorite houses in our neighborhood. It was sold maybe 1 or 2 years ago, and I remember telling some dear friends of ours about it because it still had it's original mid-century modern charm, but needed a facelift in terms of paint etc. While my friends didn't bite, the people that did are doing WONDERS with this home and it pleases me to no end. The house used to be a reddish brown with cream trim and traditional house numbers, and I just adore the latest paint job. And I try not to be too creepy about peeking in the windows to see their fantastic taste in furniture and lighting. Anyway, that yellow door is A+ in my opinion.Below are some photos of the color found in nature -- this autumn has been so long and so lovely. I hope you're enjoying it wherever you are as well!
For your internet shares of the day:+ You can now eat pancakes at Paisley Park, just like Prince.+ Wow. What a wedding this must have been!
Well, Ezra seems to have gotten over his fever. We took him trick or treating last night just up and down our own block, and man did that kid have fun (don't worry, we did put shoes on first).Today (Tuesday), the munchkin is still home with me because we have to keep him out of daycare until 24 hours have passed since the fever, and while I do adore this kid like no other, it has been five straight days of parenting a child who is not at the top of his game and holy cow I could never be a stay at home mother because those women are SAINTS with serious patience that I do not come close to possessing. For today's post, I'm including images of Ezra in his Elmo costume, but also some of my favorite shots/costumes from the photo booth I had yesterday in my studio. Such a fantastic time of year!
And lastly, since I've been slammed being a full-time parent lately, there hasn't been much time for online surfing. So instead, I'm going to share a few beauty products I've discovered in the last six months that I cannot live without. To the boys out there: Sorry. Or maybe read through them for stocking stuffer ideas? And many of these are skin products because hey, I'm over 40 now, chasing a toddler around, lacking solid sleep and I'm trying to fight wrinkles like a ninja. Bear with me.+ Boy brow. I love this brow finisher because it's easy and I feel SUPER put together after using it. In general, I haven't met a Glossier product I don't love. And? If you listen to a certain podcast and use promo codes, you can save 20% off. My recent listening binge has been this one, and their promo code is MURDER. You're welcome.+ This makeup remover is FANTASTIC. It gets EVERYTHING off, and leaves your skin moisturized, is less than $7 and lasts for months and months and months. Total winner.+ This anti-wrinkle/skin brightening serum actually makes a difference that I can SEE after just a few uses. That right there is magic. FYI, you can only get it at Target.+ This moisturizer has been used by all the women in my family since my grandmother's plastic surgeon recommended it. Yes, my grandmother was quite a beauty fiend. I never used it until I turned 40, but I now use it twice daily and it is a miracle worker when it comes to evening out my skin and reducing the look of fine lines. The only drawback is that it's spendy. But you know what? It makes for a great gift...
