here kitty kitty

Look at this sweetie! This is Fontina, and she's a new kitten that my buddy London rescued recently. I was over at London's this morning for some family portraits, and this little girl stole my heart. It's not often that I feature cats around here, but this lady was pretty darn adorable. You know what else I did today? I took a four hour nap. And it was just as awesome as it sounds.

rock your face off

Tonight was the Free Energy & Titus Andronicus show at the Triple Rock -- and man, what an amazing night. It started with a fabulous dinner with girlfriends and gossip, and then we moved on to the club and the music. I adore both of these bands, but this show was super fun because everyone kept coming out on stage together, and you could tell they were all having a fantastic time playing each other's songs (and covers).Besides that, I had to keep remembering to take photos. I've shot both of these bands a few times each, so nothing was new. But I would still repeatedly forget to take photos because I was so taken in by the performance. And that says a lot.I wanted to edit all of the images tonight, but I have about 40, and it's almost 3 a.m., so I'm just gonna post one. But tomorrow I'll post more, I promise. If you're in a town where these two bands are coming to play, get your ass to the show. This was most likely the best show of the fall, and for sure in the top three of the year, for me.UPDATE: Photos are posted. How much fun was this?

pink carnations. huh.

Wow, what a crappy day. But it's my Friday, so that was a bonus. Tonight we headed over to the Triple Rock to catch the Best Coast show. I really like their new album, but man were they boring live. The most interesting thing that happened a the show was a fan delivering a bouquet of carnations (above). Maybe I'm being too harsh. Tomorrow should be better.

monster mash

Ah, another Wednesday. Another long deadline day at the office. Lately when I've been stuck at the paper for a long amount of time (which alarmingly is becoming way more frequent), I will get up in the afternoon to walk around the block and stretch my legs. I don't have a ton of meetings at my job, and so many, many hours are just spent sitting in front of the computer. Anyway, in the last few weeks I have noticed these adhesive alien/monsters stuck to the streets around our building. I don't know the back story behind them at all, but I do enjoy stumbling upon them on my brief escapes from the cube farm. And how about those cowboy boots, eh? Yes. I still love them.

tired out boy

This boy has become my running partner, but I don't think he's too happy about it. One thing the both of us have in common is that we suuuuck at running. Next to him are my new kicks that we broke in tonight. I think I might have worn the collie down a little. Poor guy.

the witty aimee mann

Tonight we caught Aimee Mann at the Dakota Jazz Club. In general, her music makes me sleepy. Or sad. Or both. But I have to say that I do love seeing her live.I had kinda forgotten how funny she is! You wouldn't expect it, but her stage banter is amazingly clever and charming. It made me want to grab a beer with her and talk about boys and family and maybe even musicals. And you don't hear me say things like that very often. Also? She revealed that she just turned fifty. Yeah, 5-0. Hot damn I hope I look this good when I'm 50.Oh yeah, more photos over here. Enjoy!
