So, since my trip back to Kansas last month, I've taken up yoga again. Well, I never really gave it up... but class once a month and a few down-dogs in the morning don't really constitute a "practice." While home, I noticed that as soon as I made the 2-3 times a week commitment I was much more grounded and had a better attitude about all the bullshit at the office. Wait. That doesn't *sound* very grounded, but I promise, I have had a very zen attitude.Once I returned to the Cities, I tried to figure out where to start going again. While I am absolutely in love with the studio up the street, the times just don't mesh with my schedule. And then I remembered all the wonderful things I had heard about Tara Na. So that's where I've been, and the classes have been solid (Although I am still waiting for that magical moment when an instructor puts on Gayngs instead of the hippie windchime crap music they all seem to love. But at least they aren't playing Michael Franti. Lord, I cannot stand that guy.). This photo is of one of the many budha-type statues they have at the front of the room surrounded by candles. Yup, it's very zen indeed.

shop animals

This afternoon, Jamie sent me a note at work asking me out on a date. LISTEN UP BOYS, THAT NEVER GETS OLD. I loooooove being asked out to dinner or out to a movie or something. It always makes me happy. And where did he take me? Tilia. Score. After dinner, we walked around the shops in the neighborhood and spied the cats over at Wild Rumpus sitting in the window watching the people go by. For those of you not from Minneapolis, Wild Rumpus is a children's boookstore that is *amazing.* Not only do they have a marvelous selection, but they also have chickens and cats roaming free for the kids to pet (or chase) and other animals in cages (like spiders! and birds! and mice!). I adore this store, and I try to support it whenever I can. Even when they are charging $40 for the latest Harry Potter and Target is only charging $19. (Yeah, I might still be bitter about that last purchase.)

the departed

Oh hey! Look who finally made it out to hear some music! Our friend Crutch (Josh is his real name) took us out tonight to see one of his favorite bands, Cody Canada and The Departed, who also happen to be long-time friends of his.It was a fun show full of some slightly obsessed fans that made for spectacular people watching. Also? Josh brought a bunch of home-made bbq brisket to the show and LORD ALMIGHTY CAN HE MAKE GOOD BRISKET. Seriously. Should newspapers ever completely die off, he'll be just fine selling off his food.We had to leave the show earlier than we wanted tonight, but here are a few snapshots I got during the first part of the show. Enjoy!

more seniors
0919tomsm.jpg

Tonight I had another senior portrait session, and man was it gorgeous out. Just one more perfect fall day in Minnesota -- now if only the leaves would change (but not drop! I'm not ready for that yet!). After the shoot I headed over to the Electric Fetus to pick up some upcoming concert tickets. I wonder how many other customers are stopping in to get tickets for both Deer Tick and Astronautalis*. NOT ENOUGH. That is the answer.*That Astronautalis album came out last week, and I am just loving it to pieces. Everybody on the planet should go pick it up, but especially if you live in Minneapolis. Support your local artists!

voyeurism

How about we look at someone else's workspace, eh? This is where my buddy Stacy works. I love how she uses the blinds to hang those great inspiration pieces (and I love the artwork, and how she saves all of her photo passes). I also love her old-school desk.We went to her place tonight to eat some home-made chili with friends and then to play some Trivial Pursuit. It was more awesome than it sounds.

minnehaha falls

What a day! We started off co-hosting a garage sale, then met up with a friend for a birthday gift, and then I had a walk-through with an engaged couple over at Minnehaha Falls. I rarely make it over there, and it was fun to scout the photo spots (including this one). I rarely shoot long exposures of waterfalls (heh, who knew?), so I thought I'd share this one with you.Later, we headed to the Cedar to catch James Vincent McMorrow, who was very charming live (man, do I love an accent). However, he was kinda dull to shoot, so he didn't make the cut for photo of the day. But don't you worry. Rocktober is right around the corner, and you'll get some music photos then!

the church at dusk

I had a shoot tonight with this view. I loved how the clouds matched with the church -- I just wish the freeway wasn't in the way. After the shoot, Jamie joined me over at Nick and Eddie for a delicious dinner date, and then we came home and got ready for the garage sale we are having tomorrow, er, supplying goods for (we are not hosting). Uh huh, you read that right. Yeah, this is the first (and probably last) time we'll be doing this. But if you want any beer glasses, vintage scarves, ceramic kitchenware or an antique typerwriter, stop by 35th and Pillsbury tomorrow after 10 a.m.

lovebirds

Remember these lovebirds? Tonight I got to give them *all* of their wedding photos, and man was that fun. Highlight of the day, for sure. Um, other than watching the Vampire Diaries season premiere. Yeah, I really am a 13-year-old girl when it comes to television.
