meh.
Today kinda sucked. I try to stay upbeat around these parts, but sometimes you get the perfect storm of a bad day where everything that could go wrong does go wrong. You don't get near enough sleep, your dog keeps trying to eat your shoes, tasks that should take 15 minutes take more than an hour, and you have a tooth crack in your mouth and you need an emergency dental appointment and an unexpected Novacaine shot. Oy.But today was the first day of school, and we all know I really love teaching/classes/students, so in my naivete, I was super excited to tackle the day when I rolled out of bed at 5:30 am (silly, silly girl). And I took this photo as campus was just starting to wake up when I arrived at 7:30. So calm!Rather than focusing on all of the annoyances of today (as tempting as that is) I will tell you the highlight, instead. Are you ready? Settle in.While I was at the dentist the dental assistant was asking me what was new while we waited for the doctor to come in and inspect my crumbling mouth. As most of you know, I have pretty horrible teeth, and to say I have a friendly relationship with the dental staff would be an understatement. They all know me by first name, and they are very familiar with my life/family/photo projects.I was telling her that I had recently updated my website, and I went to give her a new business card. She saw the one that has Magda on it, and she commented, "Oh, is that a Vizsla!?" Why yes, she is a Vizsla mix.She proceeded to tell me that she had a Vizsla once, and that dog was C.R.A.Z.Y. She said the dog wouldn't listen, wouldn't come inside, wouldn't settle down, was bitey, scratchy and all kinds of trouble. I chuckled remembering the trouble that Magda was when we got her. I asked if the dog ever outgrew the behavior, and she replied that she didn't know, she only had the dog a week. Then she went on to tell me that after that dog, she decided she was a cat person and dogs just weren't for her anymore. She said the dog would jump all over her children and basically had no manners. She said that sometimes she would tell the dog to do something, and the dog would give her the snottiest of looks as if to say, "Yeah, I don't think so." She returned the dog to the rescue, and even the volunteers there thought the dog was nuts! Again, I chuckled because I am so familiar with this brand of crazy. But something seemed odd.So I asked when she had this puppy. Answer? April. Um... So then I asked what rescue group she got the puppy from. That would be the same one we rescued Magda from. She and I locked eyes, and laughed. She asked if Magda's name had been Maizey! AND IT HAD! I HAD ADOPTED HER INSANE VIZSLA. The one that made her switch to cats forever. Ha!What a small world, eh? I couldn't believe it. Anyway, I got home today, and it was as if Mags could sense we'd been talking because she was crazier than ever. But tonight, after her trip to the dog park, she's cuddled up on the bed next to Jamie and I realize how smitten I am with this insane creature. People? How is it that I attract the craziest ones? Ah well, it must be fate. For your internet share of the day, I'm sending you to funny photos of frogs because frankly, I need the laugh. Enjoy!
