So I guess we are just a snow-loving family all around! The day after the snowfall that I captured Magda in, I took the kiddo and sledding with a bunch of his friends. These are a few images from the day. Such fun!For your internet shares of the day:+ This is a few years old but still PERFECTION. Tea and sex.+ And speaking of consent, this article was absolutely fascinating.+ The importance of getting away.

my six year old!

This sweet thing turned six this weekend. Can you even believe it? I sure can't. While she's way more mellow than in those early years, we are still so fortunate that she's healthy. After having Memphis fall ill at this same age and die only three years later, we are knocking on wood like crazy that Magda's health continues. We celebrated her big day with donuts and a new tug-of-war toy, but I think she liked Mother Nature's gift of fresh snow even better. Here are a few images I snapped of her playing on Saturday afternoon. For your internet shares of the day:+ I love notes from small kids.+ Have you forgotten how to read? I fear I have since I now listen to all of my books. I just don't think I'll have the time or concentration until Ezra is a little older. I do hope it comes back to me though.+ Fantastic winter project.

Before I had Ezra, my mom would always ask me after a newborn shoot if the baby was cute, and I would tell her that all babies look the same to me. But now that I've had a kid of my own, I can completely see the difference. And with this child here? Just look at that amazing hair! I love it!For your internet shares of the day:+ Oh how I love a good cheese plate.+ This cocktail looks divine.+ My new favorite snack that they have now discontinued at my grocery store. Perhaps I'll get brave and make my own.

Have I mentioned that one of the best parts of my gig is seeing all these kids grow up into amazing and fun individuals? See that kiddo up there? He's a blast to have in the studio and he's so sweet and kind. And here he is at only a few weeks old. Documenting life is amazing. For your internet shares of the day:+ How to turn a bad day around.+ I would love these socks for Christmas. I bet other people in your life would like them as well...+ I want to make this.

winter textures

Something else I noticed while out on my walk yesterday, was all the fantastic textures we have right now in late fall. I know! It sure feels like winter when it's 20-some degrees outside, but the reality is that we are still more than three weeks away from *actual winter*. This is what I keep telling myself as I decide to walk, not drive, to nearby errands.Anyway, I'm trying to enjoy the most of the outdoors before we are covered in snow and ice and I decide to just stay home under blankets. For your internet shares of the day:+ Glad they are keeping Prince alive with the kids.+ Calendars are one of my favorite gifts at the holidays! Here is the planner I use and love.+ Cellphones are everywhere.

I'm not gonna lie, I've been in a bit of a creativity rut. It happens each year around this time because, well, I've been busting my tail! Photography definitely turns into "work" this time of year instead of the "fun" that it started out as. And with this in mind, I try to remember to schedule breaks for myself in shooting (hello holiday weekend!) and I try to push myself a little more creatively. This morning I had a meeting at a neighborhood coffee shop, so I decided to walk and just take my macro lens. This lens always makes me think outside the box, and it makes me notice the details -- which is inspiring to me.On today's walk, I began to pay particular attention to the beauty in the death of things as the season changes. Here are a few of my snaps. For your internet shares of the day:+ A horse is a horse of course.+ Let's all remember this news story from 1938. Now let's think about our current president's actions regarding the border near San Diego.+ Some fascinating photos of the animals left from the horrendous fires in California.

How was your holiday weekend? Ours was pretty great. We cooked (omg my fridge is packed to the gills!), we ate, we played games, we sat by the fire, we went on walks, watched movies and we even fit in a date night with Ezra's bubie acting as a free babysitter. Here are a few snaps from our weekend, I won't lie -- I barely even picked up my camera. But that was sort of nice as well! For your internet shares of the day:+ This outfit is both handy and hilarious.+ A penny can tell you if your power went out!+ Did you know you can stay in one of Jo and Chip's fixer uppers?

where you'll find me all winter

Oh hi.Last spring (and maybe the year before that) we worked on updating our living room and dining room area. I didn't really post about the changes, but we got rid of the blinds and got curtains, we added bookshelves in the dining room, we built out new shelves in the living room to match the fireplace, and we added a cabinet for the TV that closes so no one knows it's there until we watch a movie.Anyway! A lot of changes, and the main result is that now we have curtains (which I prefer to blinds), we can build a fire and enjoy it while we watch TV (yay!) and we have a music area where we practice piano, play records and hold dance parties for Ezra and his friends. Small changes, but some big results -- which has been perfect.Aaaand, since it's all cleaned up for the holidays, it seemed like a good time to share it!To me, these photos are boring and useless, but I also know how much I love seeing other people's living spaces, so here you go.No internet shares because I've been too busy cleaning! And on that note, I'll likely take a few days off of blogging for the holidays as I want to be present with my family. I hope you understand and I hope you all have an amazing holiday weekend yourselves. Cheers!
