Sorry for the absence folks! I have been super busy, and I'm not gonna lie, I simply forgot about the blog. Yup, plain forgot about it for an entire week. I am gettin' old, people. But I'm back! And the reason I forgot about it was that I went to Texas last week to do a Day in the Life session along with a mini session and a family film. Told ya I was occupied! And you know what? IT WAS A BLAST. So much fun that I want to do more and more of it. So! I have a proposal for you!I will waive ALL TRAVEL FEES (within the continental US) for Day in the Life or Family Film shoots between January and July of 2020.*But here's the catch: You have to book the session before Dec 31. So book a shoot for a Christmas present and save a bunch of dough on travel fees! Get on it!* Cannot be combined with other offers

Kieran's Kitchen

Post by Lucy

On a recent assignment for City Pages, I got to stop by the Food Building, and the newly opened Kieran's Kitchen to shoot a bit of their space, and the delicious food. If you have not been to the Food Building, it is well worth the trip. The space is filled with a unique collection of brilliant makers - Red Table Meat Co., Baker's Field Flour & Bread, and Alemar Cheese Co., - all of which produce their products onsite, and then ship to local and national vendors.Kieran's Kitchen combines a market and cafe that highlight the delicious staples made on-site. The dining area is cozy and inviting, and the building itself is open for self-guided tours to see the makers in action. So, not only is this space a spot you can stop by for a delicious meal, but you can learn a bit more about the process it took to bring it to your table!

Go visit Capilano

post by leslie

While we were in Vancouver, I wanted to hike in some of the parks nearby. We didn't have time for both Stanley Park and Capilano, so we chose the latter because of the bridges and photo ops (just being truthful!), but we drove through Stanley Park on our way through and loved it so hard.Anyway, we were the second people into the park that morning, and it was such a treasure. They have suspension bridges over the river as well as an Ewok like village of suspension bridges hung up in the trees, which was AMAZING. I cannot recommend this park enough, but be warned it gets crowded fast. Early birds get the photos.

Mount Maxwell

post by leslie

While I Canada, we returned to our favorite island, Salt Spring. And I insisted that we hike Mount Maxwell as we had done before, and it was completely worth it. Enjoy the images. We only saw 3 people on the entire hike and the serenity in these woods is unparalleled. I kept stopping just to hear the silence.

Happy Halloween!

post by leslie

As you can see, Ezra is going as a Storm Snow Trooper this year! I keep saying Storm Trooper, but he insists on the correction, so there you have it. And frankly? In Minnesota? A Snow Trooper is much more likely. He was having a hard time relaxing in the studio the other day while we were taking photos, so I put on some Katy Perry and it turned into a dance party, which was super fun to capture. Enjoy!

vancouver

post by leslie

One morning on our trip, we got up early, grabbed some coffee and walked down to our neighborhood beach. It was lovely! Here are a few shots of Vancouver from our quiet stroll, and then a few from the ferry as we left Vancouver to head off to Salt Spring Island.

Ferry rides

post by leslie

We're back! And I am already regretting that I didn't bring back more of those Canadian candy bars. What was I even thinking? Sea Salt Caramel Kit Kats? I should have bought them all.Anyway, we had a LOT of travel mishaps on this trip. Flights, buses, ferries, you name it, nothing turned out as we planned. Except for Delta. Delta was a champ and showed up on time and delivered us on time, and I have zero complaints about them. Good job home team. But Alaska airlines messed up at every single turn, and in the first instance we had to fly into Vancouver instead of Victoria which meant we had to ferry over to Victoria to pick up our rental car etc the next day. It was a dreary morning, but it was so lovely for photos. Relaxing and wonderful and I tried my best to embrace it and to read my book and take photos of the beautiful Salish Sea. And these are those images. Enjoy!
