hiding on heated floors
1222mwmsm.jpg

1222mwmsmMagda has many hiding spots around the house. Under the bed. Under dressers. Inside of closets (behind hanging pants). But this new one, next to the toilet, just started today. It's not very hidden, but I think she's too enamored by the heated bathroom floors to bother. I can't blame her. That extravagance is one of my best decisions to date.Oh, and what was she hiding from? The vacuum cleaner, of course. And for your "holy crap we are living in the future" share of the day, how about this bracelet that turns your arm into a smart phone. WOW. Although I bet you can't take calls on it...

1216magdasmThis girl, I tell you. She made me smile today. On the day when the kid would not be set down and screamed in my ear crying for 95% of the afternoon. Oh, he's fine now. Me? I'm heading out to dinner and DRINKS with a friend. Good luck my dear, sweet husband.

1208mags1wYup, she got her cupcake. As I type this, she is hiding under the bed in my office from the vacuum cleaner. She's smart enough to pose like this, but not smart enough to realize the vacuum cleaner is not out to get her. Hilarious. And then after posing, as her reward, I let her eat the cake. I told her it was OK, but as you can see below, she was dubious.1208mags2wAnd then she tasted it, and DOVE RIGHT IN.1208mags3wFor your internet share of the day, Burt Reynolds has apparently come on hard times and needs cash because he's selling off his personal stuff! Like his rolodex!

monday with magda // guess who's two?
1201Magssm.jpg

1201MagssmToday this sweetie is two years old. Man, oh, man -- the difference a few years can make!I love it when she sleeps with all her paws in a pile like that. Just adorable. I'm gonna be honest and tell you that I had high hopes of photographing her with cupcakes and candles and the whole shebang again this year, but the babysitter fell through today and I need to spend every moment that Ezra is napping working on my paid client work instead. (Sad trombone.)The good news? That this kid is napping at all! I'll take it!But don't worry! I will still get Magda her cupcakes. We celebrate dog birthdays very seriously around these parts. It's just that my natural light will be gone by the time I accomplish said task, and so you won't get photos. But this girl here? She'll go to bed happy, I promise. And for your internet share, it looks like someone made a print of my life mantra. Yup.

1124magssmOh you guys, I have so many awesome baby hats around the house these days. Magda loves to steal them for her nests. I love to force her to pose in them. As you can see, I am winning this game (for now). For your internet share of the day, I'm sharing this very sad article about our local zoo. A baby gorilla was born five days ago and the paper published the most wonderful photos of the mama gorilla and her babe. Today they announced the baby didn't make it. So very sad.

1117magssmThis weekend I was prepping for my holiday shoots in my studio (8 families in 8 hours!), and I wanted to test the holiday lights in photos. So.... Magda got called into duty. She was not very pleased. But the good news is that treats weren't even needed because once you begin wrapping her in electrical wiring, she freezes! Great survival instincts on that one. Oh, and don't you worry, she got her treats anyway. And for your adorable Magda story of the day, I had Ezra in his bassinet in my office while I was working this week. He was sound asleep, Magda was on the first floor, and I ran across the hall to use the restroom. When I opened the bathroom door, Magda was standing over his bassinet wagging her tail. I ran over to make sure all was OK, and she had gently laid two of her toys on his feet while he slept. She wanted to play. ADORABLE. I cannot wait to see these two grow up together. For your internet share of the day, check out these amazing paper animal sculptures! I totally want one of these for Ezra's room. I love the fox and the elephant. You?

1103mwmsmI have mentioned before that since we came home with Ezra, we have made sure Magda got her usual time snuggling in bed. What I haven't mentioned is how her time in bed has changed. For some reason, she now prefers to sleep under the covers. And unlike this photo, she likes to sleep 100% under the covers. Preferably down by our feet. How she breathes is a mystery to me, but I will admit that our feet remain toasty on cold nights -- which is a perk. This weekend, after being up for an hour or so and then wandering into the bedroom to find my slippers, I spied this. It looks like she finally broke for air, but still stayed mostly covered. I thought you would enjoy it.Truly, so many people have asked how she is doing with Ezra around, and I'm here to tell you that, amazingly, she is fantastic. She has turned into such an wonderful dog, and when I think back to those other families who returned her as a puppy, I am just reminded that all anyone needs is love and support and consistency to turn things around. And training. There has been a LOT of training. But it all worked out, and I'm so glad we didn't give up on her.For your internet share of the day, check out the personalized stationary of these celebrities... from back when stationery and snail mail was a thing. (By the way, it will always remain "a thing" for this girl who cannot get enough of her paper products...)

happy halloween! From all our critters!
1031family.jpg

1031familyOh man, this is my very favorite holiday. Well... and Thanksgiving. But this one? COSTUMES!I'm not gonna lie, this morning was rough on me. I was trying to get the dogs photographed and Ezra was NOT HAVING IT. There was the most drastic crying to date (I even recorded it for future reference). I will be playing it at his wedding. But finally he calmed down and we got all dressed up and we had Halloween festivities at Jamie's office (which were phenomenal, btw) and then we came home and decorated the front porch before heading over to a neighbor's bonfire and gathering and then heading out to take Ezra up and down the block to meet other neighbors. And now we are answering the door, drinking wine and gobbling up handing out candy. For your internet share of the day, I just cannot even believe this. According to this article, people will spend $350 MILLION on their PET'S costumes this year. People. I like dressing up my critters, but that is INSANE.
