Oh man, what a day. I'm sorry to cheat and give you the Evening Rig again (oh hell, no I'm not). But I was a second shooter in a wedding today, and I shot about 1200 images and some that I really loved... but... um... as a second shooter I hand over my memory cards at the end of the night to the lead photographer. So alas, I have nothing to show you! (Yet.)Anyway, it's not cheating too badly since the band didn't go on until midnight last night, and technically this WAS shot today..Oh, and if you want to see more shots from the show, they are up over hereTomorrow will be a fresh photo, I promise. Even if it's just my feet sticking out of the covers since I couldn't get out of bed all day because weddings are damn exhausting. For real.
Woot! The Evening Rig! This is one of my favorite local bands that isn't a rap group :) I loooove these guys (and girl) so much live, and their last album was fantastic. Tonight they had a record release party for their new album (which I haven't heard yet, so I cannot comment although my faith in them tells me it will be fantastic). The show was a blast. They played their new songs, their old songs and then some covers (Summer of '69!! Part of Sweet Home Alabama!!). Ah, it was a happy night for sure. But kids, I gotta hit the hay (it's 2 am and I am shooting a wedding tomorrow). But when I get home from all the romance, I'll try to post more images from the show. In the meantime? Happy holiday weekend, everyone!UPDATE: Photos from the full show are now up over here. Enjoy!
I had another portrait session tonight, and it was another stunning subject. Have I been totally scoring with my clients of late or what??Anyway, while this was a super fun part to my day, I kinda missed a golden opportunity to shoot photos of my nephew! He and my brother-in-law were flying through Minneapolis tonight and ended up having an unexpected 5-hour layover, so we met up with them for dinner after my shoot, and I was so excited to see them and hang out that I FORGOT TO TAKE A PHOTO. Total fail. But lucky for you guys, I had this gorgeous client in my back pocket, eh? Next time he's in town, I'll show you my handsome nephew Henry.
After work my man ran some errands with me as I needed to buy some new photo supplies. Oh calm down, it wasn't anything fun or expensive or fancy -- it was new seamless paper for my studio shoots. (It's big and awkward and I need help loading it into the car.) Anyway! After that we decided to stop for a drink, and we decided to go to Broder's.You guys haven't heard me talk about Broders in such a long time since my most recent love, Tilia, came into my life. But Broders was my very first Favorite Restaurant here in the Twin Cities. It's still absolutely amazing, but it's always packed and doesn't take reservations, and so it kinda fell off of our list. Until tonight! They have the most lovely patio with amazing small plates and delicious wine and local beers (as you can see, Jamie chose Fulton's Lonely Blonde). And how about that label design, eh? Hot damn I love the work that my local design community does. Seriously, there is so much talent hereAnd then we came home and blogged and went to bed. But in-between all of that, I did manage to catch a little gem I've been waiting for on my DVR. Um, have you guys heard about this show Abby and Brittany on TLC? It's about a pair of conjoined twins from the ... uh... Twin Cities. Anyway, I find it FASCINATING. It's two girls that have separate heads, hearts and lungs, but one of everything else. But two legs, two arms etc. I watched the premiere tonight. I'm not normally one for reality TV, but throw in a scientific anomaly and I am there. Plus? I'm just so curious as to how relationships with boys work!?! And what about tests?! Do they have to take one test or two in school? (Yes, the geek in me is dying to know the answer to this one.)
Tonight after work I got to have another puppy session, which was awesome. People! I cannot get enough of these! And man, was this kiddo soft -- as was her brother who is part eskimo dog. Super fluffy and sweet!Laney here was just adopted about a week or so ago, and her parents are working super hard to get her trained and well behaved, and I'm happy to report that she was a *fantastic* pup to work with. Part boxer and part Aussie Shepard -- how cute will she be when she's grown up?
What a fun day! I took it pretty easy this weekend and just stuck to work (excluding date night, of course) so that I could skip out of the house around 2 pm today and head to the Minnesota State Fair to catch POS play and to, um, eat lots of fried food. And take photos! And I was so glad I made the time! From crazy people watching to getting to hear POS play some new stuff live to just wandering around and seeing all the farm animals, I had a great time. It kinda reminded me of when I went to Europe on my own a few years back. Traveling with friends/loved ones is a total blast, but sometimes being on your own and only doing what you want to do is just damn awesome, too.Anyway, I took a ton of photos. You can see how my day went over here. Enjoy!
