Last night I caught ECID over at the Triple Rock. You have no idea the amount of motivation I had to muster to get out of the house. But the basketball games were finished (yay Shockers!) and I knew it would make solid photos. And plus I hadn't shot a concert in almost a full week! I was feeling a touch lazy.So I made it out, scored a great parking spot, and shot away. You can see the full results here.Today, it's supposed to snow again (hrumph), but we're gonna try to get the collie out for a walk before it gets too bad. And other than that, I'm gonna get off the computer and maybe cook and watch TV and live life like I used to do before the internet. Or something.Oh! But before I forget! I owe you my internet share of the day. I have pondered posting this article all week on my blog because... well, it's a touch negative. It's a story about why a very successful young reporter decided to leave journalism. With our new computer system at work and the extreme amount of shifting duties, I've pondered this post a lot this week. And since I'm still thinking about it, I thought I'd share it. I think it offers a pretty great explaination as to why newsrooms are so hard to work in these days, and the comparison of her journalism job resembling a bad relationship really hit home for me. You can read it here.
Fun Saturday! I had a shoot get postponed due to the cold weather, so we checked out the new donut shop in town, Glam Doll Donuts, where Jamie had the peanut butter and chocolate donut. He says it was a touch rich, but delicious. After that, we hit up the Fetus where we loaded up on music and concert tickets, and then came home to watch basektball all afternoon. When we got hungry, we walked up to the wine store on the corner for their free wine tasting (every Saturday!) and then mosied over to the new pizza place, Hello Pizza, which you can see above. Told you it was a good day.Tonight involves more basketball and a concert. Oh yeah... about last night's concert... I really, really wanted to go. Badly. But I guess it wasn't meant to be since I passed out asleep on the couch at 10 pm like a senior citizen. Let's hope tonight goes a little better.Oh! And for the internet share of the day, how about these beautiful Easter eggs! I never dye eggs anymore, but this makes me think about it :)
Today was good in that I finished work early, got a massage (yup!), ran all the weekend errands and cleaned the house from top to bottom. And in between all of that, I sat with my feet up for a bit, letting the sun warm my toes in this 30-degree BS weather we're having, and that's when my boy came over to give my toes some kissin'. He must be appreciating the pedicure I got a few weeks back, eh?Tonight we're thinking of heading out to a late show, but the band won't be on until after midnight for sure, so if we go, I'll save that shot for tomorrow. For now I'mma watch my Jayhawks and pray that their not the first No. 1 team in history to lose to a No. 16 seed in the first round of March Madness. I have to admit, I'm a touch worried. For my internet share today, I'd like you to check out this instagram feed of a woman who makes art with the food on her plate. It is truly lovely.
How adorable is this guy? We met a bunch of friends over at the Butcher and the Boar tonight (a delicious restaurant in town that wins a ton of awards and that I somehow had only eaten at once before -- at this same couple's wedding reception!) and we ate out on the beer garden. They have a fancy-schmancy restaurant inside that's super hard to get into, but my lady Gigi turned me onto the heated, tented beer garden where you can get all the same drinks and a lot of the same food with no crowds and THEY ALLOW DOGS. How rad is that? Her friend Colin came (and he works at the restaurant) and this was his dog Angus, who made me smile so big. What a lover. We had amazing salami, sausage, brats hotdogs and a cheese plate. And wine. Yum.As for my internet share for today, you're gonna get the latest Star Trek trailer. It features the new bad guy, Benedict Cumberbatch, who also stars as my favorite Sherlock Holmes on BBC. I am soooo excited for this movie. Go watch the trailer. Expand the screen and watch it big. Tell me you can't wait.
Hey look at me! Skipping a "way back Wednesday" two weeks in a row! That's because the University of Minnesota is on Spring Break and I actually had time to (barely) think today. And I used that time to down a glass of wine, eat some steak and fill out my NCAA brackets. Who says I don't maximize every minute of my day?I really don't think KU will make it to the final game, but I cannot emotionally let them lose to North Carolinaj (psh, Roy) or any team from Florida (because obviously I'm still bitter about living there). And that gets us to the final game in my bracket, so I'mma go with that. Jamie, my husband who has not missed two minutes of any game since, I dunno, 1986, has them losing in the sweet sixteen. And he calls himself a fan.OK, now down to the "Internet share" of the day. So did you hear about Don Draper? Apparently AMC has asked him to wear... uh... more structured undergarments because they are tired of having to photoshop pictures because apparently his nether regions keep showing up in outline in the tighter pants that were all the rage in the late 60s and are now featured in the show. I would like to point out that under no circumstances would they ask Joan to hide any part of HER sexuality, but AMC is arguing that the shape in Mr. Draper's pants is too "distracting."So my parents read this blog, and I need to make sure I keep things appropriate enough for my father, but I *know* my mom is totally gonna click through on this article. It's a tough balance, I tell you! Here's the full link here.
Look who got all dressed up for work today! I'm gonna thank Mr. JT for this inspiration. What a sharp dressed man.Besides waking up to send a handome man off into the workforce, my day was... challenging. Lots of stuff at the office was ... interesting, but frankly I'm still running on a high from SXSW (not a *literal* high, but an emotional one, for sure), and I really couldn't begin to let any of it get to me.Also, randomly, I've decided to start sharing some of my favorite finds on the internet with you guys. Today I was discussing with some coworkers how upset I was with the loss of Google Reader, and they commented that none of them used it, really. That they only read 4-6 blogs per day.I subscribe to 94 different blogs that I try to read each day. Now, most of them are design blogs, so the term "read" might not be right, but I like to be informed.Anyway, I thought with this in mind, that maybe I should start sharing a few of my favorite finds. Today's came from Margaret, and you'll understand how much I enjoyed it because it's an interview with an animal photographer. But not just dogs and cats. This woman shoots BUFFALO and FLAMINGOES and crazy stuff like that. You can read about it here. Enjoy!
Yeah, we're all still yawning over in these parts. I slept in until after 9 and then worked all afternoon with this guy yawning up a storm nearby. And did I mention it was snowing? And windy? And cold? Man I'm missing my spring break vacation.
