my what big feet you have
0221bigfootsm.jpg

So I have really big feet. When I was 10 years old, I wore size... 9. I was up to a 10 by the time I was 11 and I've been a size 11 since I was about 13. Yup, shoe shopping is tough. But as Jamie says, "Thank God for your big feet or else we'd be bankrupt." Like many women, I do love my shoe shopping...Anyway, you can imagine my delight at this shoe! I can't really tell you what it's for as it's work related, but I can tell you that if you pick up vita.mn on Thursday, there might be a fun treat inside. And that's enough cloak and dagger. But seriously! Look at these size 18s! They make my feet look downright tiny... which is a serious feat. (haha! get it?!?! I'm here all night, folks)

ups and downs

Today was busy and slow and exciting and stressful and man, is it time to go to bed yet? I had class early in the morning, then a fun lunch date, then a meeting at the photo studio (fun!) then a trip downtown to pick something up from the Timberwolves that I can't tell you about yet (later, darlings) and finally back to the house. So what sounds rough about all this? Well, I forgot my wallet at home. And I didn't realize it until I had already parked in the VERY EXPENSIVE ramp at school. So I had to borrow money from friends and strangers to be covered, and that's embarrassing and stresses me out. Then? Amid all this driving around town, my gas light went on. No problem! There's a station over there! Oh wait. My wallet's at home. That's right. So I had two more errands to run and I was on the other side of town from my house, but I got home safe and sound (now I just need to get to the gas station tomorrow morning).I was so beat when I got home from all of that (oh, and cleaning up the dog barf... yeah) that instead of working I opted to watch a Buffy rerun this afternoon before falling asleep for a nap. And instantly, the day was better. It's amazing how some good sleep can do that for you, eh?Oh. The photo! Ha, I guess I can give you some information on those, eh? Well, since today was so harried, these are shots I took with Instagram while running around. The first is of a moving train behind the photo studio (I'm a sucker for graffiti on trains) and the second is this very cool door on campus that I go through to gain access to the underground tunnels that take me to class. I wish all signs were hand lettered. Pretty type makes me so happy.

I got up early this morning to shoot the Crate and Barrel wedding party. They do this once a month (three times in February) where they open up the store to engaged couples for registration while it's closed to the public. And they serve food (french toast! panninis! cupcakes!) and drinks (coffee! wine! espresso!) and they have a ton of staff on hand to answer questions about cutlery, bedding, whatever. And man, they have such great stuff over there...Anyway, I shot photos of the couples while I was there (and this awesome mirror). But what I really did was try to figure out if Jamie and I could, um, "register" and go eat all this good food. Ha! Kidding.Sort of.

mr. rabbit

Well, today I learned that I need to work harder at getting good photos of curry dishes. Because tonight we made a fantastic homemade shrimp and red curry dinner, and I took my bowl down to the studio where I had lights and props and everything set up so that I could get a good shot... and... yeah. That photo up there? That's not what I had for dinner. The thing about curry is it makes everything in the bowl the same color as the curry. So it all just looked... red orange. And it didn't look nearly as good as it tasted. And now I'm convinced that photos of curry that show lovely white cauliflower and red peppers and bright green herbs must not have *cooked* those ingredients in with the curry. And I'm only willing to stage my dinner so far, folks. I mean, I want it to taste good...So, you get Mr. Rabbit instead. This guy has been camping out at our neighbor's house every fall and spring for the last 3 years. That must be a warm part of the wall in her house, because he's always in the exact same spot. And it's only about 15 feet from our back door, and our dogs have never indicated that they are aware of this rabbit's presence.Do you know what that tells me? That my dogs would die in the woods if left to their own devices. What in the world happened to that hunting instinct?!It must have disappeared the minute I held out a spoon with peanut butter on it.

the destroyer strikes again

As we were driving to the bar to meet up with friends tonight, Jamie asked me where I had left all the homework that I had graded all day."I think I put it away in the closet," I said."Not on the floor?" he asked."No, in the closet... I'm pretty sure," I responded. But then I began to doubt myself."Maybe we should turn back so I can double check?" I asked."No. It's fine. I'm sure," he responded.Well, we got home to a FINE MESS thanks to Memphis The Destroyer. Thankfully, I had not put my homework in the closet but up high enough to where she couldn't get at it. Instead she took out her anger at us making the EVIL decision to leave the house out on some grocery sacks.I swear. This dog's gonna be on Prozac pretty soon. (Like as soon as the vet OKs it.)

I love that tie. I know... I'm a bit predictable with the color orange. Whatever.Tonight I had dinner with my friend Alice after work (thank God because after this day, I needed a big glass of wine and a prepared meal), and then I got home just in time to help Jamie figure out what to wear tomorrow. While he is a touch of a clothes horse, he was really just trying to settle on what would work best for a presentation to a hundred kids at U in the MBA program. We settled on jeans, hipster jacket and this amazing tie.Otherwise, my day was really just a lot of work. Oh! But before I forget! FRIDAY (which is today for many of you) is the deadline for my free wedding giveaway. I have gotten some really great entrants, but I'm sure there are more of you out there that would like to get in on the deal. If so, (or if you know a couple you'd like to nominate) send me the date they're getting married, how they met, what the wedding will be like and a picture of the couple. Good luck everyone!

foggy morning

This is the cemetery that I pass every day on my way to work. This morning it was kinda foggy, so I stopped to shoot it. Sadly, the fog didn't show up as well on camera. This is also the cemetery that I want to be buried in. And no, I am not morbid -- I just really love this gorgeous spot in the city. Right?

Today I was back at Spruce to check out the Valentine's Day madness, and man were they busy. Lotsa guys comin' in and wanting red roses. I wish I knew how many red roses are sold on Feb. 14 -- I think that would be a pretty interesting statistic. Especially compared to other days around the year.Wait. I know, I'll google it.{please hold}ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY NINE MILLION. That's a lot of roses. Personally, I'd rather have a plant as they last longer. But that's just me.
