What a week! We have full on belly laughter happening these days, along with several three hour naps! But mainly, this is the last week before Ezra here starts daycare. I'm gonna miss this little guy so much during the days. But, (deep breaths), it will be really good to get my own life back. In the meantime, I'm going to try to just enjoy these last few days while I can.
Of course, we had lots of airplane time. And lots of drool.
One day last week, I thought it would be fun to "fingerpaint" with Ezra. I just added some food dye to some yogurt, thinned it up with some water and let him at it. Obviously I am naive in that I didn't expect it to end up on the face or in the hair. Lesson learned.
Snapped this while Meredith was watching Ezra last week.
Ezra met Diggs this week. I love how he's resting his hand on that big, adorable Boxer.
Leah was off to the left smiling at Ezra when I snapped this. He's kinda smitten with my beautiful lady friends.
We also have been playing with scarves during the day. He loves the way they feel when they brush his face, and I have tons of bright, colorful vintage scarves.
These last two make ma laugh so hard. This is what Ezra looks like when he's nervous. Ha!
Last night I shot an engagement party for these two over at The Local in downtown Minneapolis. It was a fantastic group who made super fun photos, and it was a really nice time. Sometimes heading into a "party" shoot, you have no idea what sort of family dynamics await and how it will be, but this was a genuine, fun group. This shoot also brought back some great memories for me. Ages ago, back when we went to Spain, we returned late at night from our overseas flight and I was sick. Really sick. I caught some sort of cold/plague in Spain and it was hitting me hard upon arrival into Minneapolis. But. But! It was my buddy Julie's last night in town before moving to Texas with her fiance, and they were having their engagement party in the exact same spot.I think we literally stayed for 10 minutes. I hugged them and promptly told them to wash their hands, then I left and probably stayed in bed for a week. For your internet share of the day, how about distributing your portfolio on actual thumb drives. No, seriously. Click that link.
Busy busy days around these parts! I have seven shoots scheduled for the next five days, so today was super busy processing and wrapping up the shoots I had last week. Whew! In other words, this has been my view all day.Interesting side note about my desk: That photo propped up agains the books on the right? That was taken of Jamie and I in about 1996 or early 1997. And my headphones? I've been listening mostly to Run the Jewels and Panda Bear today. Thug rap and indie pop -- what can I say, I like variety. The Ezra cards on the right? They say, "The bun's outta the oven, so it's time to hustle." I've been sending those out to clients to remind them that my maternity leave officially ends in a week and a half, and I'm ready to get busy again. So far, it seems to be doing the trick...No internet share today as it's been all work and no play, but I'll try to make up for it later!
This morning Ezra and I had breakfast with the always amazing Leah over at her house. Remember, she is the mother of Diggs. Anyway, Diggs' cousin Easton was visiting as well, so I snapped a quick shot of that adorable boxer face. Seriously, I cannot get enough of those wrinkles! Easton and Diggs were all over Ezra, probably since he carries Collie and Vizsla scent whereever he goes. But the kid loved it! Two huge dogs all up in his grill smelling his hair? Doesn't even break a sweat. That's my boy.For your internet share today, my favorite travel photographers are back at it again -- this time in Peru! Also, how to lose weight in 4 easy steps. This totally sucked me in (thx, Margaret!).
Ezra and I met up with the lovely Courtnay this morning to celebrate her birthday a bit early. I got her that hat -- isn't it adorable!?! Magda has been trying to eat it ever since I brought it home... I am pretty sure it was the feathers she wanted. But alas, she was thwarted and now Courtnay looks just as stylish as Lady Mary! For your internet share of the day, this made my heart melt.
What a fun week we had! There was the very first "Ezra sleeps through the entire night and has to be woken up by his parents in the morning" bit. That was awesome -- and sadly, not repeated (yet). There was also the time I took him out to meet the Doomtree rappers at the donut shop (photo below). Or the time he met my longest childhood friend, Kameran Lee Bender, whom I have been friends with since 1979 or so. He was smitten with her, let me tell you. Also? There was Sunday brunch where Ezra sat in a high chair at the table the whole meal and entertained himself with napkins and coasters while we ate a leisurely meal. That was rad.Beyond that, there were many games of "airplane," more tummy time, lots of playing with the dogs (he is now very interested and loves to gently pet them). It was a really, really great week.
