sweet thing

post by leslie

Last weekend I held mini sessions just for kids (no parents allowed) in the studio. I had a lot of fun with all of these youngins, but I'm starting out with photos of this sweetie. I photographed her parents wedding almost 6 years ago, their first puppy and now their daughter. I feel so privileged to get to work with this amazing couple over and over again, and seeing  their first child grow up is just fantastic as well. For your internet shares of the day:+ Want to rent some former celebrity homes?+ Hilarious mom advice.+ If you only read one thing today, make it this.

gorgeous, gorgeous food

post by leslie

I don't think I've told you about my health coach yet. Her name is Liz, and she is FABULOUS. She has turned my life (and my perspective) around and I am a much healthier person now than I was six months ago, that is for sure.I'm not going to go into detail (yet) because she's working on getting a new website up and launched, and when she does, I will tell you ALL about it and send you to her and you can thank me later. But for now, she came into the studio last week for some portraits and she brought some food to photograph for bits of her new website. Since I don't get to photograph food too often, it was super fun and I loved the macro shots of all the produce, which you can see below. And for your internet shares of the day:+ A thought on gratitude.+ What in the world makes magic erasers work so well?+ Amazing shots from above.

Spring Migration

Post by Lucy

It's one of my favorite times of year - the temperatures are warming up, the early spring plants are just starting to peak out of the ground, the lakes are finally opening up, and the birds are migrating north! It's always a treat, and a challenge, to see as many species as possible as they make their way from their wintering habitats to their summer spots. I've only been out a couple times to take photos of birds this spring, but,  I was really happy to have the chance to head down to Lake Pepin on a recent evening to see the pelicans!Below are shots of those pelicans, eagles, hooded mergansers, wood ducks, mallards, red-winged black birds, and some ever elusive seagulls :)

post by leslie

You guys, it's like I have newborns coming out of my ears! And I love it! Here is another session from last week in St. Paul. I know you might be tiring of babies, but don't worry. The dogs are coming soon. I promise.

And for your internet shares of the day:+ I'm pondering repainting the living room or dining room. No, I haven't mentioned this to Jamie yet (hi hon!). Thoughts on something like this?+ This photo project had me thinking all day long. We are so fortunate to live where we do.+ I cannot wait to see this zombie movie!

Look who made it out on a Friday night again, eh?Last weekend I ventured over to St. Paul to photograph the fabulous Jenny Lewis (who I always love to shoot). I was thrilled that she came out in sequins and feathers (or fur?) and the lights were lovely and there was a balloon drop. What else could a girl ask for?If you want to see more images from the show, the full take is over here. And for your internet shares of the day:+ Amazing giants in a factory.+ A gorgeous home with a friendly ghost.+ Gift ideas from Minnesota.

another family film

So sorry for the lack of posts last week! I'll try to be better this month, I promise! While work has been completely manageable, we had family in town and in my efforts to be more present and to put down the camera (and computer) when spending time with loved ones results in fewer blog posts, but a happier family. So there you go!This is a family film that I completed last week with amazing people that I adore a thousand percent. I met the mom years and years ago when she taught one of my favorite yoga classes. Since then, she and her husband started a landscaping business, and they designed and completed our backyard! Working with them in any capacity is always a blast, but getting to know their little boys was the most delightful part of this session. I hope you enjoy! And if you would like a family film of your own, here is the package information. Now, on to my internet shares of the day:+ How to ween yourself from plastic.+ An underwater restaurant!+ I love these stamps.+ Want to get paid to stay in bed?

I released this video yesterday about my family film sessions and I worked super hard to get it on my personal Facebook account, my business Facebook account, my personal instagram feed, my personal instagram stories, my business instagram feed and on Twitter. And then I spent the day with my kid. And this morning I woke up and realized I forgot to put it on my own blog! You guys, promoting your business is hard! There's just so much to do!But here it is. I worked very, very hard on making this promo reel, and I hope you like it. I also hope you tell all your friends and relatives and coworkers about this, because I love doing this work so very much and I would treasure more of these jobs.Ezra is on Spring Break this week, so yesterday involved the zoo, playgrounds and ice cream cones. Today will be pancakes and friends and a little cleaning before my parents arrive for a quick visit. In other words, we're busy around these parts! For your internet shares of the day:+ Angels do exist.+ I love Adidas because they fit my feet the best. But this sure doesn't hurt.+ Look at this guide to London! Let's win the lottery and go!+ Dessert for one.

out like kids again

On Friday, I got to shoot what I call the Better Oblivion Whatever Show. The band is *actually* called Better Oblivion Community Center, but I have a hard time remembering that name, so I just call them what I will. But why are they important? Well, I think it's pretty well documented on this site that I am a huge Conor Oberst fan, and so photographing this was super fun. Plus? They covered a Replacements song (!!!) and some old Bright Eyes songs that took me right back to 2001.However, the very best part of the whole shebang was that we were able to score a baby sitter and Jamie got to come with me and we got to pretend it was 2009 again. Except for Saturday morning when my back was all seized up from carrying around my heavy lenses all night because now I'm old. But it was still worth it. To see the full take of photos, go here. And for your internet shares of the day:+ Cat photos? Who am I?+ I left California too early.+ We all know Lake Superior is the best, but Lake Michigan is pretty dang cool right now too.
